Sure the online experience of a ps3 is not as good as live but thats the thing , you don't have to pay to play online and i'm sure in the next console for MS it will still be the same . Graphics wise with a hdmi cable nothing can touch the ps3 .
You're right about the Wii though , biggest waste of money
HDMI has nothing to do with graphics, merely the clarity of the graphical signal to the tv, and anyway the 360 has had HDMI for a long time as well.
Roughly the two consoles are more or less the same graphically: multi platform titles tend to be slightly better on the 360 whereas the PS3 has a (debatable) tiny advantage where the game has been designed from the ground up for it (such as Killzone 2 and arguably Uncharted).

Thats nothing compared to Millipede ! Lets be honest, as games were evolving, they werent great but they were bloody addictive ! If you compare games today compared to games yesterday, then yesterday wins. Today, you have graphics and top the of art technology, back then you had imagination. In the ZX Spectrum days, that computer ruled over the better ones graphically as it had better ideas and more thought was put into what people wanted. Robocop came out on the ole speccy and the C64, the speccy one was better. No colour, all monochrome, but the programmers (Ocean) put in the effort to make it playable. With the C64 they added colour but it seemed lame to the spectrum as, although colour was added, it was a poor effort and you never got the same appreciation for the game.
