Personally I think that Leon, Igor, Ciggy, Bigmick, TMP and Peewee were some of the best posters on the site. People who's posts I looked out for when I came on, and who's opinions I respected. I find it strange that people can just dismiss them leaving as if it won't effect the forum. Yes the site will still continue, but it will be a less interesting place without them.

Karhaz, I agree parts of your posts, but I find strange some others.

For instance I agree no one should be treated as if they were indispensable, I don't like elitism. But this is a community, so I don't understand this bit

My point is, so what. You'll hear older members whinging about the previous posters and how good they were (if they were that good, why didnt they have more of an influence?), concentrate on each of your own posts, be disciplined and soon they wont even be mentioned.

If I don't understand this bit correctly correct me, but why should be a goal at all not to mention them?

I have in my signature one of the few posters whose  posting really touched me.

There are other posters whose posting have been very informative. I know a hell lot more about Liverpool thanks to many of you. I don't see why I can't be grateful mate. Perhaps it's a culture thing, but more than once I've thanked to mates here their contribution and it has been seen as something bad, as "brownie points". I do feel the need to say thanks, I've been educated that way. What I won't say is that without this and that  poster this forum can't exist. That's bóllocks.

I'll never say ban someone or report any post, because lets face it, when you start on that road, your life really is connected to the internet.

I use the report button often when I see SPAM or Manchester WUMS. I've asked bans for members who are clearly in an offensive manner towards our club. What I don't see is the connection to real life with that. My life IS connected to the internet because I'm a fúcking computer scientist, but I'm not sure if you meant that. Bans, moderation and this things are inherent to forums. When I report a post, I think I'm helping the mods and the forum to spot a post in a huge forum.

About reporting other regular members, I did so a couple of years ago when I couldn't post anything without being chased by a few members. When I did so I didn't want those members being out of the forum, just leaving me alone. Since they wouldn't accept my request, I felt the need that a *moderator* moderated in the conflict. That's what they're for.

Right now, I don't feel the need, thanks to the moderators.

I'll log on in here, post my opinion, and accept any reply. I have learned to accept this place for what it is. A Forum. A place for people to voice there opinions. I like the people on here, new or old, opinions differ but the majority of people are here because they live in the real world (not the topic !).

This bit is very good and you have shown a lot of progress, that's the idea. Remember the times in which you commented that a new started thread by you had a lot of views but not answers?
:D

Now you're a more seasoned poster, and at the end we always realise that in a forum you can write your contribution, but you can't expect to be liked, nor even be read!! you just make your contribution, and that's there.

In general, I think that a healthy attitude towards any forum is don't expect anything out of it nor from anyone. I've discussed about it with Red37 a couple of times, but I won't say the rant again. Sometimes people with not much forum experience are too enthusiasts about posting, and feel that a forum is a community in which you almost know people. Well you don't. You just read what they write, and from there you try to build an image of the poster. That leads to error 100% of times. I preffer to see most posters as simply nice people, but without pretending to know them, because I don't. Imagination is tricky, so it's best not to use in the forum. IMHO

For instance I don't like when Lando (and he knows I appreciate him) assumes that some people are not here because of the results of the team. I'm almost 100% sure that's not the case. But it's just an example of assumptions we make about the people from what we read of them. That's a mistake.

This is what I meant when I said you can't expect much out of a forum or a poster.  :D

Some will come back, most are simply throwing their toys out of the pram over some spat with someone else. And if they don’t return? fine, this place will carry on and new people will take their place.

As I said, I don’t see the point of making a drama over leaving a web forum. Simply stop posting if you don’t like it, don’t make it into a big drama by announcing it and throwing your toys out of the pram.

As I asked before who has announced they are leaving ? Igor, Leon, BigMick and TMP havent said anything as far as I am aware, peewee made a comment that people have taken as a leaving speech, but I am not so sure it was.

So all this cr@p about them announcing they are leaving is a bit strange, when most of them left without saying a word (at least on the forum)
