Advanced members section - Should we remove it ?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

:D LOL I do remember your only moan in 5 years.

I repeat, your *only* moan in 5 years I can remember.

I was thinking more on those regular moaners that are questioning the mod's job every week. Clearly not talking about you.

1 moan in 5 years doesn't make you or anyone a moaner Mick :D

And relax mate, the fact that I make you an observation every 5 years, doesn't make me an anti Mick neither.  :rasp

Maybe they question the mods every week because very week one of the mods does something that stupifies the rest of us...

I honestly think the advanced memebers bit should be kept, but just used better...

And i want the games section back, i had top scores on all of that!

Maybe.

But  "the rest of us" must be really "the rest of us", and no "the same old 6-7 moaners".

When mods receive more than 30 complains then they should think they have made a mistake. And in fairness to them, they have asked us what kind of moderation we want, that is, you can't blame them of not listening to the people.

But if it's the same "6-7 moaners" then I wouldn't take much motice of their usual complains. No matter how important these 6-7 guys they think they are.

Talking hypothetically here, I have no idea of what being a mod is like these days.  :grinning:

ok, there is a section that com, plains too much, a section that complains a fair bit, and a section that just kisses butt.

But there are problems, but we are human, and to err is human.

They do a good job tho, but deserve the same stick i used to give the prefects...

woof woof ! wrote:The advanced menbers section was something I never supported. I thought it would be divisive and although it never caused any major rifts in the forum, that was only because that most members including those that quailified to enter it just f'ucking ignored it.

:D

Now, given the "level" we're at in the forum I find an "Advanced Members" section laughable and frankly embarrassing.

Hopefully we remove it before someone lodges a complaint and we're found guilty of breaching the "Trades Description Act"

Whadya think ?

At the time it appeared I must say I liked the idea (every thread seemed to be getting wrecked) and for a short while there was some quality football discussion on it. Then it died. I haven't read anything in it for ages. If it stays as it is it's pointless and should be removed.

I think the Advanced Section should go as nobody uses it. It was a very good idea but it lies idle. The rest of the forum should also be used properly or else get rid. For example why dont we use The Games section for exactly that -Games! All Match Threads should go in here and leave General Discussion for other topics. A lot of people complain about the match threads, so stick them in here and thats sorted.

There is a lot of sections, not just the Advanced Debate one that are not used

When the rest of us started together as moderators back in late 2007 - we had a discussion about this idea along with other improvements that 'might' be made around the place and (almost a plan) to implement a streamlined forum was hatched. The advanced section was one of the main issues debated. However...for reasons other than any obvious ones. Nothing transpired.

Down to the admin i guess whether or not there are any alterations made.

The forum could certainly do with freshening up a bit in my view.

p.s know this is more about the forum than footy and should maybe be in "Gen Chat" but wanted to get as many opinions as poss.

I believe I said it was a daft idea at the time, wasn't difficult to see that dividing the forum into two sections would break it up. As if "advanced members" can discuss football to a "higher level", and why is there any need to keep discussions inaccessible to some members?!?

T'was always a pointless subforum, might as well not exist

having tried to make posts in that section before and not being able to ( post count i think ) it maybe that simply deleting parts that are of no use and opening others to users like me who don't have a high post count, i can understand that some felt a area where newbies or low posters could not go was a good thing but it had now become redundent and maybe a change would help reignite some of the sections within it?

i mean maybe lose the section but add the good parts to general discussion or just reduce the section and open it up to all users

I'm against it, for the simple reason that I'm excluded from it, so what you have to ask yourselves is do you want to have a section which I can't post too, well do ya, punks???  :D
