This year is suppose to be ‘our year’ to make a stand for the title and, at present, we’re standing well in the league.

However, Rafa’s signings this season have been poor to say the least, and none of them seem to have improved our squad a great deal, which is disappointing when you consider how much we have spent. OK, I admit, Riera looked good to start with, but like his time at Man City he has slowly got worse and is now nothing more than an average squad player. Today he looked poor and his inability to use his right foot is shocking.

The bottom line is, when you consider Rafa’s cringe worthy outbursts, and bazaar tactical decisions, Liverpool FC is looking like a circus at present. As a fan of 25 years, i have NEVER known our club to do air its dirty washing in public, but Rafa insists on it at times. I accept our two chairmen are the wrong people and they don’t help, but Rafa shouldn’t add to the problem by making it public. He also shouldn’t make his problems with Parry public, which has sadly brought about Keane’s departure.

Rafa is looking like he’s losing the plot big time. Houllier did the same after his operation and had rows with Parry and refused to accept some of his awful players were not up to scratch, today i have seen the same with Lucas and Dossena.

Rafa said yesterday "Sometimes good players cannot settle in the team. You have to react quickly.”

Why the F**k is Lucas, Babel and Dossena STILL HERE!

Gerrard and Torres are now injured and who do we have as back up? Ngog and Kuyt...I hope i am soo wrong on this, but i fear Rafa has lost the plot and the Chelsea match was a one off, thanks to a dodgy sending off.

I was reading this forum for about 5 months and I`ve seen so much various things. I saw so many quality posts from quality posters and I saw few clueless people. Quality posters were saying the same things when we were first,or when we lost some games. It`s called SEEING THINGS CLEARLY. Remember these Lando,Leon,Emerald "We are top of the league FFS,enjoy it". Well there are people who can`t enjoy being first in december when it is clearly that we are not good enough. And these people shoud be more respected(including myself).

I am not disapointed with today`s result. Shitt hapens,even when there is no Lucas in your line up,not to mention when he is there. I am right,I know that. Rafa is the worst manager for buying players,he is making shitt subs,he wants to control every single movement on the pitch,so players have no freedom,also on top of that,very negative manager. And there is no disscussion about that. I said it when we were 3 points clear on top of the league,I am saying it now when we are almost 5 points behind,out of FA cup! That`s the Fookin FACT,he is not up to it! No debate,no disscussion. If anyone thinks different,he shouldn`t be taken seriously.

Today we looked actually good in some parts of the game,but generally,through season... OUR WINGERS ARE NOT CHANGING POSITIONS AT ALL-that is ridiculous. CMs are allowed to make only safe passes,players are in rotation machine,so they are inconsistent... rafa is making contra-efect with his decisions,no doubt about it.

At the end,we should get rid of him,cause we are so fookin boring,it is not just the results.

AND LITTLE REMINDER... I was saying that we will be playing shitt football,until we are out of the title race. We will play better football when we are 10 points behind,when Mr Benitez concentrate on CL and let the players to play some proper football. It is happening every year. :blues:

The Chelsea match wasn't a one off mate. we played our very best team (which is quite decent), they aren't a patch on what they have been over the last five seasons, and both teams went into the game needing a win or bust.

All of the above was in our favour, and also one of their best players was incorrectly sent off. We eventually prevailed with two goals in the last four minutes, but we were much the better team and it wasn't a one off.

The problem we have is that all of the above are not often replicated. Usually, we are up against teams who are happy to sit in (and it's worth remembering we created very little against Chelsea either). Usually we play against teams who are happy to take a pointand we can't break them down. Usually we don't play our best team (like tonight) and if you replace Masherano with Lucas, and Aurelio with Dossena, it stands to reason you are going to weaken the team.

The other issue is that although we are arguably a better team than Chelsea, they do go all out for wins against so called smaller clubs. Often we don't, and so too often we draw. They on the other hand can lose against us (twice), Arsenala nd Man Utd and still be in touch with us, purely because they are good at beating lesser teams.

I've already made my feelings clear on the manager, so naturally I agree with most of your post. I've been saying for a while that if you took Steven Gerrard out of the team we wouldn't finish in the top four, and I'm fairly sure I'm right. We had a little peek tonight at what we'd look like, and to be honest I thought we were absolutely awful both before and after the sending off.

We are into year 5 of the five year plan, and so far we have won the Champions League somewhat fortuitously with largely the team left behind by the previous manager, and won the FA Cup. If we don't manage to win either the league this season (which TBPH I don't think we will) or the Champions League, that will mean two trophies in five seasons, and none for the last three.

Probably most damning is that it's hard to see us really improving much with the personel we have. You don't look at any of our players and think "feck me this blokes gonna be some player". Given that, it's going to be down to transfer market activity and when you consider what we did with 40 million quid in the Summer, it doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

I think it's time to move on at the end of the season, but obviously I'm in the significant minority. That brings with it some problems in terms of other posters reactions, which you'll no doubt ecxperience as well if you continue down this path. Good luck with it

As far as I can see though, in definately wanting to change the manager at the end of the season, I'm still in a group of one.

If we don't win either, my guess is that Rafa would at the very least have to guide us to either the final of the Champions League or into 2nd place in the Premiership to retain a large amount of credibility.

If we once again fail to get 1st or even 2nd, despite Chelsea being in disarray and Arsenal very much in rebuilding mode, it will be a damning indictment on his tenure I think. Even Houllier did better than that.

This is the kind of thing I alluded to. Unfortunately it doesn't matter how reasoned and sensibly you try and make your point, or how many facts you put in the posts. It doesn't even matter that you only enter such thoughts into threads which are clearly "doomy and gloomy" and don't fill all threads with the same thing, you still get this sort of stuff.

It's as inevitable as it is disappointing unfortunately.

I'll tell you what, the biggest Houillier feeling I got was when we sold Keane. It reminded me so much of Westerveld. As for rafa losing the plot, I dont think he has, I think he is more determined than ever to prove his ways work. This isnt losing the plot, this is being stubborn. I'll stick by what ive said before.

If we are challenging by the end of the season, a 2 year contract should be on offer.

If we win it then yes, a 5 year one should be there.

IF we end up potless, then we should start looking elsewhere.

The only thing you can say with any certainty mate is that if I include any stats whatsoever in my posts I'll feck it up. I kind of have this resolution to just rely on my memory but I fecking never get it right.

Next thing someone will point out that I've forgetten we won another trophy or something

As you say though, although I'm an idiot for getting it wrong (I know you didn't say that, I'm saying it) it isn't THAT much better. We really need at the very least this season to go closeish I think. Even if that means we are a few points back, finishing ahead of a shambolic Chelsea, a rebuilding Arsenal and God forbid Aston Villa should be attainable after five seasons building towards it.

I agree Mick and if we finish potless he should go, there is no longer any doubt in my mind of that. I was going to write a long explanation but why bother? Anyone that feels the same as me will know why, anyone that doesn't will probably never understand.

I will be delighted if we finish 2nd if we dont win the league it will be for the first time ever we havent had to qualify and sh!t trips to Austria and so.

Ofcourse i will be gutted but I am also not stupid as to what we are up against in the league Man u, I was upset we didnt take advantage over it, but we are still in it.

I was very proud of our team on sunday we was boss, cant say the same about tonight but I dont care about tonight I was livid when we dropped two points against them 10 days ago.

In 3 weeks time what a cracking game is lined up cant wait that is one thing Rafa has brought back to this club is nights like this.

The houllier feeling i have got is new arrivals this season. We have hardly made any reinforcements to the squad. Keane was bought and sold within 6 months. Biggest flop for me. Also treatment and handling of player was questionable.
Riera seems to be a decent signing but not anything special.. Other than that all the rest seem to be just fringes...

Change of ownership is necessary but a thing we all just have to pray for that somehow someday we will have owners made for the club.
As for rafa his decisions do baffle you at times also his relationship with the owners is a worry.

Its all perplexing and ruining the club day by day.. With these yankies here we will always ahev off field problems and rafa will always have disagreements over transfers and issues with the squad.
