1) You have a stack of 23 cards. Each card has an image of a cross on one side, and an image of a circle on the other side. You know that 14 cards in the stack are laying with the cross up, and therefore 9 cards are with the circle up. But you don't know in which order the cards are. Moreover, you are in a completely dark room, so you can't see anything.

How can you, without seeing anything, divide the stack of cards in two smaller stacks, in such a way that both stacks have the same number of cards with a cross up?

2) Their are three gaurds and three prisoners who need to cross a river. Their boat only holds two people at a time and the number of prisoners must NEVER be allowed to outnumber the number of gaurds on either side of the river; otherwise the prisoners will overpower the gaurds and well the story will come to an abrupt end. Determine how many trips it will take to safely transport all of the gaurds and prisoners across the river list each of the trips that need to be made and who is in the boat and who is on each of the riverbanks during each trip.

tie a rope to the boat and the first pair (1 guard + 1 prisoner ) row across, that means 1 pris + 1 guard on one side nd 2 guards and 2 pris the other side then the boat gets pulled back across and then the next pair cross and the same again so 3 manned trips and 3 empty trips

1/ turn them upside down so the circles become crosses and the crosses become circles then split into two piles.
