CHELSEA VS LIVERPOOL - We can do it!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

fug it man. let chelshite worry about us. i think it will be hard for both teams to score from open play considering the strong defense...so set pieces can really make a difference. i wish we still have fowler or macallister man.

hopefully we wont have an agger moment again! hard to see pool taking 3 points here...then again kuyt filled the void at the weekend in fairness. robbie has to start firing on all cylinders though. was at ireland v cyprus last wednesday and he looked very ordinary...finger out time me thinks

I think we're often at our best against the "big" sides when we take the game to them and impose our tactics and game plan on the opposition.

I'd like to see that against Chelsea. We need to get in amongst them in midfield, hassle and not give them a minutes peace in the opening 30 minutes or so and really test them - impose ourselves on them and let them deal with us. That's how we'll have a chance of getting all 3 points I think.

If we start out cautiously, the best I'd be seeing us get is a draw - which wouldn't be the end of the world, but I honestly would start to cream myself if we beat them, ended this shitty home record we keep hearing about and really announce our arrival at the title contenders' party!

I don't want to be negative, but any kind of a result here would do.

How long since they got beat at home ?

If the stars are in alignmnet, and the wind blows in the right direction, then maybe, just maybe....

So do ya want the players just to show up and make a presence like most teams do at the Bridge??
Bet yer a$$ that our boys will be up for it..and give them a game.No point thinking we cant win this, and its not"happy clappy" to suggest that.
Theres no point playing football if you have an inferiority complex..cause you wont win!The players wont be thinking any result will do.they will be going for the win
Chelsea wont be looking forward to us coming there either.Get fuc'kin in to them!! :buttrock

One must provoke a bit of debate.  :p

Don't get me wrong I have no doubt of the commitment of our players, but Benitez will have to shut the game down, and deny them the space they usually get.  We will need an exceptional performance.  This is not impossible, but difficult.
We travel in hope, not expectation.

5-0 to Liverpool (Keane 2, Kuyt, Gerrard, Agger)

I'd put money on it

Reina

Arbeloa          Carragher          Agger       Dossena

Pennant          Alonso              Masch       Riera

                                Gerrard

                                 Kuyt

I think both torres and keane will not start so i've gone with gerrard just behind kuyt , gone with pennant as he has made ashley's life tough when he has played against him , if he starts i hope he has a good game . Although i can't see us winning , i'm going to go with the odd 1-0 goal , someone like pennant nicking it

they had some injury crisis i think...but it didnt stop them from crushing some team recently. i hope mikel and carvalho arent playing. dirty b@stards. and terry too. if they do win, ive a funny feeling anelka would score. imo, its gonna be a very one-sided affair. probably 3 goals. hope its all from us.

Liverpool sweat on injured trio

Liverpool hope Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane and Xabi Alonso will face Chelsea on Sunday despite sustaining injuries against Atletico Madrid.

The trio failed to finish Wednesday's 1-1 Champions League draw in Spain.

Keane is causing Reds manager Rafael Benitez the most concern: "We need to check with Keane. I don't think it will be serious.

"It was a little bit of a muscle problem for Robbie. Gerrard is okay and Alonso has a knock on his knee."

from bbc.

so dispite the headline gerrard is okay. just hope the other two will be fit for the weekend

He is? Well at least he owes us one... I'll settle for a dodgy last minute penalty to seal the win
