1) Why should the number 1 be considered an EVEN number?

2) An encyclopedia consists of ten volumes sitting next to each other in order on a shelf. Each volume contains one thousand pages. Excluding the covers of each volume, how many pages are between the first page of the encyclopedia and the last?

3) Ebenezzer Scrooge favorite line, Ba Humbug, so the riddle, what does Humbug mean

1. (2K)(2l+1)=2[K(2l+1)]

K is the integer, so therefore odd numbers can be even, such as the number 1
If written in this mathematical formula  :p

2. 998

3 nonsense, deception or fraud

it says pages not books

you also asked how many pages between the first and last page. therefore one volume consists of 998 pages

the question can interpret one volume pages of all the volumes combined matey

secondly each volume can be considered and encyclopedia on its own  :rasp
