It was a terrible challenge and at this stage we dont know whether its out of character as we dont know much about Guthrie.
He deserves a 3 match ban imo, and hopefuly will learn from it.

By the way although i dont condone it, a) i understand that players can get frustrated
b) Fagan stamped on one of our players at Anfield for Derby last season - so is hardly an angel.

My football career was ending by a twa.t tackle not to dissimilar to this one but by a goalkeeper I can't stand hot headed players disgraceful.

What happened to me was one on one with goalie and chipped it over his head and in stead of stopping he just jumped and kicked me in the knee so hard it split my knee cap in two.

Bad times  :(

Ouch sorry to hear that leg - i was playing at Bristol City Youth when i was 14 and we were playing Bristol Rovers youth and a guy cam in so late on me and my studs got stuck and i ended up with a double break of leg and fractured ankle - also got an infection in muscle and a bit had to be cut out so my footy career was over , so hates dirty tackles no matter who does them .

I'm no fan of John Terry but if he hadn't had his red card rescinded today, he would have received the same ban as Guthrie.

That's just not right whichever way you look at it. Guthrie deserves a 5 match ban imo.

He wouldn't.

One match ban for red card.

three match ban for violent conduct.

Yeah Thing I look back on and upsets me is I had trails at charlton week following and wished I hadn't gone and helped out my old team that sat .

If only .....

Who knows but I still wonder where I could have gone with my football.

Now I want to teach young people in life skills so they always have some thing to fall back of if they dreams don't work out hense why I am going into teaching.

had a very similar incident in a game for my sunday team two weeks ago that started a 22 man brawl, Fagan would have been well within his rights to give Guthrie a good slap.

Very stupid by Guthrie, he let his emotions get the better of him but he should learn from the incident after the ban he gets and media backlash.
