I'm not sure if PES has a demo for tomorrow. I couldn't give a toss anyway, because it looks horrible, and no doubt will play like it too...again. Konami need a kick in the bollox for ruining a legendary football series.

I'm also told that the Fifa demo will probably be available from after midnight tonight. Fingers crossed. Honestly, I always said that Fifa 08's biggest problem was actually just turning with the ball. They sort that, and you have one amazing football game. Looks like they not only fixed it, but fixed and improved a hell of a lot more. I can't wait to get my hands on this, and the mad thing about it is is that it's Fifa and not PES.

Xbox World gave the game a disgraceful review, awarding it just 81% and stated that it was the same game as Euro 08. They then went on to state a load of improvements over that game. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but improvements mean just that, so if it's improved, then how the f*ck can it be the same game? Also, they declared at the end of the review that it's "the closest, and most realistic football sim ever" and then went on to say PES is still better. Someone has either been on the glue, or has been paid off. F*ckin fanboys, eh.

There's too many fanboys when it comes to PES. I remember back in the day, I was converting loads of FIFA lovies to ISS. FIFA then seemed to tread water for years and everyone (at least the hardcore anyway) was playing PES. Now FIFA is back on top, a lot of fanboys won't have it. My two stepsons refuse to entertain FIFA (they have a PS3 too and insist I have turned to the darkside for playing FIFA on a 360). I've played the last PES and thought the graphics were really poor and the gameplay is now an overspeeded arcade affair. FIFA has snatched back the realism from PES and is set to rule again.
The best thing is though, when I was a PES lover, one of the most frustrating things was spending the first month or so creating kits, badges, flags and correct names - with FIFA, none of that is needed. All fully licensed and decent commentary too*.

* excluding the bit where Martin Tyler asks Andy (bitterblue gobsh*te) Gray what his favourite Anfield memory was, and the c*nt starts going on about how he scored a flying header and ended a really long undefeated run at Anfield.

That's the thing. Years ago, you didn't mind editing kits and stuff because there was simply no alternative but play Fifa, and that was a no no. However, today it does matter. I always wanted PES to have complete authenticity along with its gameplay. Turns out it wasn't PES that got there in the end, but Fifa. It was always going to be a case of IF Fifa could get that gameplay, but now it finally has, so what else does PES have going for it? Fifa just took the only (and most important) leg it had left to stand on. Honestly, I think Konami are seriously f*cked.

FIFA 09 demo downloaded!

Here is some news about P.E.S 09 - seems like they are worried about FIFA enough to secure one or two licensed components into their game....

The FIFA demo's pretty decent. Graphics wise, there doesn't seem to be much difference to 08, although I haven't looked at any close ups of players yet. The gameplay is a lot more fluid though, and the overall gamespeed seems to be a bit more up tempo because of this. A couple of subtle differences that I like were the inclusion of linesmen, and when taking a corner, if you press LT, a player will run towards the corners to give you the option of a short corner. All in all, the game looks good and I've s een nothing to stop me splashing out £40 next month.

Just played the demo of Fifa 09. Massive improvement over 08, so much so that it almost feels like a new game. Player models are now almost spot on, and the game looks sharper. However, the big difference is the shooting and the ability to actually hold onto the ball when its at a player's feet. You just feel like you have a total command of the player. I found myself with it in the midfield, and with two or three players around me. A quick turn of the stick and I'd wormed my way out of trouble, whereas in 08 I'd have lost the ball. They've improved the responsiveness so much, but not too much that it feels arcade like PES. Speaking of PES, it looks like a complete joke now. Anyone who thinks that game is even touching Fifa 09 this year needs their head looking at.

Computer games are the reason why are kids are getting fat and not good at sport - most of them would prefer to play fifa or tiger woods or fm as opposed to the good old fashioned kick about we used to have as kids :p :p

I chose the hardest difficulty for 09 demo, might of been a stupid move as it feels like a brand new game.  Havn't scored a goal that wasn't from a set piece, just one free kick goal with Chelsea and one off a corner.  Noticed that taking free kicks is a lot easier (spin and that sort of thing).

First thing I did though was change the cameras, I thought the defaults were awful.  Seems like it will be fun, needs a lot of adjusting and some good teams though.  Who the feck wants to play as Chelsea and Madrid  :D
