Hi,

Does anyone know anything more about the latest alleged makeweight in the Owen deal - Carlos Nunez?

He's a right-sided midfielder, so maybe we now won't pursue Garcia. We definately need a holding player ie Alonso but surely not 2 right midfielders.

Houllier has ruined the club financially. We should have snapped up these players earlier in the summer so they could bond and get a few matches under their belt before the big kick-off. But due to lack of funds, we had to try to get rid of the deadwood first.

I don't thinks that totally true. We have generated a fair bit of cash from the sales. The booka aren't that out of balance.

Houllier spent a lot of money and didnt exactly put the club in a strong financial position but I don't think us not having to clear the deadwood would have made that much of a difference. i doubt we would have been chasing him had Madrid not been trying to prise Owen from us. we're only talking to him now because i suppose the board is resigned to losing owen and is just trying to make the best of a bad situation.

this is getting a bit on my nerves all this we have been getting linked bith the likes of rosicky,baraca,ballack,wright-phillips,duff,vincente

okay the xabi alonso move might be good but then to look like where getting to players who dont even get there game on a regular basis at there clubs now woudnt we of been better of keeping murphy and le talec rather then bring sqaud players in

Murphy wasnt a Genuine wide player which is what Benitez likes!
Le tallec was not agenuine central midfielder either!

So i dont see anything wrong in what Rafa is doing, he is simply trying to balance his first team!

Not sure we need A Madrid cast off, havent heard anyone say he is a good player. But maybe the gaffer is a fan? I have every faith in Rafa.

We are desperatley short of right sided midfielders so bring in two wouldnt surprise me, Man citys 7mill valuation of wright philips seems more ridiculous after Owens price tag. I think Rafa should try for him although i wouldn't go over 4mill.

football can be a harsh cruel game at times. as i've already stated in another thread, if cisse and baros are banging in the goals and we are winning games and playing well, nobody will remember michael owen in a few months time. that's just the reality of life.
