3-1 in Strachans favour I'm afraid Red

Strachan has a lot to commend him - Southampton are having a brilliant run of results under his managership [certainly better than we are getting from ours] but for some reason I still think that the only person who can turn this around is Martin O'Neill and to those who don't like his tactics - I think they would change when he left Celtic and I think that he bases his tactics on the players he has and the type of league he is playing in

I coulnt agree more the board would never sack Houllier unless o'Neil was a guarenteed replacement

Yes I agree that Strachan wouldn't be a bad choice. He played at the top level himself which should help earn the respect of all the players ( the lack of playing at the top level has been used against Houllier by players and managers < Souness > ) and I like his blunt and uncomprimising approach. If his team have got beat and played sh##e then he will admit that ....rather than waffle about the fact that we have the most shots on goal in the premiership.
I have 2 concerns..
(1).Coventry were relegated. Yes they were never world beaters previously and he did well to keep them up previously but statistics like relegation are not the best indicators for success.
(2).Would he get a fair crack of the whip from all supporters given his ex Man U connections ? I can still remember his celebrations in 1988.
All this is purely academic however as the board will continue to back Houllier whatever the results. This is the same crew who should have shown Souness the door earlier and persevered with Evans for too long.
Who knows maybe they have a surprise for us all ?
Another partnership perhaps ?

I still think Houllier is in trouble, despite the win over Leeds.

Strachen is ok but he's not good enough for the job at Liverpool. I think Steve Bruce is a better choice than Strachen.

Personally I think Martin O' Neill is the only realistic candidate.

So REDTILLDEAD i did set up a poll and so far Strachan has the most votes, and there genrally seems to be a lot of support for him.

But we'll see how things develop.
