I was brought up to understand that the word wog was an acronym for Worthy Oriental Gentleman.

Maybe I was a victim of unconscious racism ?

I guess the word WOG could have LOTS of different meanings depending on where your from.

Spelling might be a bit of but in south africa us english were sometimes referred to as "Sout Peel" (Salt D'icks) because ( i assume ) of our nations relationship to the sea. Do i feel insulted ? :no

A Tottenham fan we had was called Yid of course or something. Was he banned for that?

I truly think from outside that the PC brigade is fighting multiple and irrelevant battles and many of them linguistic instead of addressing the real problems.

i remember in an old episode of Grange Hill - that trisha yates referred to benny as a nig nog. And that was broadcast on the BBC at prime time viewing for kids

does anyone else remember that episode ??
