How many here can remember as kids having to clear the drive because of the thick amounts of snow we got?

Things continued. We got on with things, my dad went off to work, we walked to school, but now, EVERYTHING stops.

My kids got a week off school. Where was my week off when I was a kid? We had to go, and if it was cold, we got to where our coats during lessons ! What a luxurious life we had !

But now, moving on from when I was a kid, when things are supposed to have improved technology wise, resource wise, one bit of snow and we are knackered !

The excuse? Global Warming !

What a joke...

Anyway im popping the heating on, im bloody freezing here !

Global warming is a natural cycle in the Earth's exsistance, allegelly we're speeding up that process by adding around 3% of carbon dioxide into the Earth's atmosphere (troposhere & stratopshere) which aides in heating the planet up.

If it's possible Kharhaz just have your heating on for an hour or two a week because you're either burning coal, oil or natural gas to keep you warm and that contributes to global warming. :D

As for the country coming to a stand still it's been that way for as long as I can remember, I love it personally. :D

Was reading the paper at the airport the other day, they had this article about bad winters of the 20th century. The worst on record was in '62/'63. Wikipedia has a whole article of it -

On 29–30 December 1962, a blizzard swept across the South West of England and Wales. Snow drifted to over 20 feet (6.1 m) deep in places, blocking roads and railways. The snow stranded villagers and brought down powerlines. The near freezing temperatures meant that the snow cover lasted for over two months in some areas. Snow lay to 6 inches (15 cm) depth in Manchester city centre, 9 inches (23 cm) in Wythenshawe, and about 18 inches (45 cm) at Keele University in Staffordshire.

In January 1963 the sea froze for 1 mile (1.6 km) out from shore at Herne Bay, Kent

Global warming also causes extreme weather conditions too.

Jesus, you should see it here in Ireland Khar. The whole feckin place shut down a couple of weeks ago, because of a few inches of snow. I think half the population would be dead if we got some Moscow style -40 weather.
