Addictive as f**k this Matchmaking business...just cannot bring meself to say the words - Right thats it, im done

Single players boring as though....

You really need to play the campaign on Legendary with a mate. Honest to God, it's one of the finest gameing experiences I've ever had in 20 odd years of gaming.

And anyone who preferes GEARS to that must have issues! :no

GEARS was one of the most overhyped peices of sh*t ever. Even though Halo 3 was hyped, and failed to live up to the hype, it's still got far more going for it, and offers a hell of a lot more than GEARS could dream of with it's social gaming aspect. Everything about Halo 3 was built for Live. It's MP and single player blows GEARS out of the water with it's massive maps and vehicals action.

Maybe you're right about Legendary. Its a great game and all that, no doubt. But the MP is where the thing grabs you by the bollox - and doesn't give you a hope in hell of putting the controller down. Except for time for another smoke and a peep at Bungie.net (again) and all them juicy stats that show exactly how much of a fool you are compared to the rest!

I think my favourite is King of the Hill/Slayer. Followed by Oddball - a lot of players veto that though for some reason...

Cant see why - its great fun

Whats matchmaking mate?

I've already hit the buffers on level two on Legendary. I'm at the bit where you have to rescue the guys kept in the barracks. I can clear out (just about) all the bad guys until the big war chief fella comes down and makes mince meet out of me. Its like meeting General Raam only a tiny of the way in.

Legendary is awesome though: head shots will kill you instantly, shoulder shots kill you instantly, body shots kill you instantly. Even a small burst from the plasma pistols will kill you.

I know exactly what bit he's talking about. He's at the part where you're in a narrow hallway with a floor to each side above. There's a ramp leading up to the top and that's where the brutes and their leader (Mc Hammer I call him, because he carrys a massive gravity hammer) come from. The brutes are b@stards enough, but when big trunks comes down to party with his hammer after you take out enough of his brutes, you're in the sh*t. He just comes down and he doesn't f*ck about.

I use the deployable's you get here - the ones that throw you up into the air, so you can run for the shotgun. Honestly, me and my cousin must have battled it out against them for a good hour solid trying to get past it. It's great fun.

Just got back from Cornwall, I rang every local shop to try and get Halo 3 at midnight but had to settle with Game in Penzance opening early at 7am, I have to say that I really like the game, career is not a patch on matchmaking but still enjoyable, people keep talking about gears being better but their completely different games, Halo is a true FPS where Gears is TPS, Gears is a unique game and their is nothing around to even touch it, both awesome games and both worth having in your life, I'll still be playing GOW online but I'll also be making room for Halo 3 :;):

Problem is that their is soooo much hype around Halo 3 that it didn't matter how good it was people would still be disapointed so I just see it for what it is and thats a great game, it's like comparing every fighting game with Tekken, you know Tekken is the best fighting game around but Dead or Alive 4 is a good alternative, you shouldn't just limit yourself to one game otherwise you'll be bored, similar sort of thing if you only listen to one type of music, you have your favourites but you should always listen to other things too!!!

not comparing the two that i prefer gears
and give my rating of 7/10 halo3 and gears 9/10
this is for me personaly i know they are not the same type of game :suspect:

but halo3 is growing on me :eyebrow

I wasn't directing that at you fella just friends of mine and people on the net keep comparing the two and slating Halo 3 which is starting to p1ss me off a little, most of them have never played previous Halo games so don't know the method of Halo thus them struggling and getting frustrated :angry:
