Screen Names
Sometimes, members find it easy to use their ISP username as a screen name for message boards and forums. A name like fhju875676 does not look attractive and doesn’t really give you an identity. Anybody got any feed back on "3w" ?

I've recently downloaded a movie that requires 3w to play it .

As I don't like to download stuff I've never heard of I did some research and was alarmed to read that Anti Piracy groups go fishing with movies that require 3w to play them. Once 3w is installed on yur machine they can trace and possibly prosecute.

Can anybody out there advise me as to the pro'sand cons of using 3w ?

I know feck all about 3W and computers in general Woof.

But I think I've been told that about RAR files I maybe wrong.

Dont the anti pirate blokes throw up what look likes to be a movie file for you only to go and download it. Once you download it the file isnt there, like its fake then they nail you with you piracy through your IP address ?

I don't think you'll be prosecuted whatsoever, nor tracked, nor anything, this kind of hoaxes are so that people do not download movies.

However, that 3w player is adware, which means you'll see more pop up windows, you'll see ads you don't wanna see, and it will slow down your computer's performance.

I'm sure that whatever you've downloaded it's available in a decent encoding divx, xvid, the known ones. I'd download the film from somewhere else. Where did you download it from?

I downloaded the movie from an "Axxo" link , (I would imagine he's well known to anyone who downloads movies via the net). It's the first time in many years I've ever been required to download some software in order to view the movie , hence my hesitation and subsequent question.

Maybe i'll just delete the file and look for another option, but in the meantime are there any members out there that have used 3w ? . If so, your perspective would be appreciated.

If you read up on it on the net Woof it appears to be full of viruses etc and the movies arn't the ones you expect i.e. Simpsons movie is not the simpsons movie. Easier and safer to download again from another source.

This will convert the files if you still want to.

A genuine Axxo file will be free to watch and will not require you to download any player so chances are its not an Axxo file.

Cheers lads (esp Saint an Dundalk) my feelings were along the same lines. Have read lots of "be carefull" comments relating to 3w and malware . I was surprised to see a "read me" file attatched to a supposed Axxo movie(Harry Potter , Order of the Phoenix) asking for financial support by making a one off payment and downloading 3w via a particular site. Axxo could've sold out but on the other hand why would he urge us to use 3w which has such a poor reputation ? .

Maybe the only way the "thought police" can shut him (Axxo) down is by posing as him.
