Torres would be a good signing. Benayoun would not be!

I read something about Atletico wanting Crouch in the bargain, that would be good business indeed if it brings the price down by a third

"Atletico Madrid have told Liverpool they want Peter Crouch in part exchange for Fernando Torres. (Daily Star) "

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1....ult.stm

"Liverpool are closing in on the club record £25m capture of Torres. (Daily Telegraph) "

Or maybe get Cisse in the deal somehow since Rafa doesn't want him loaned out and offers will likely be well under what we paid for him

I would like to know if there are any targets Rafa has given up on altogether for whatever reason. We have been linked with a lot of players in the last couple of years and I'd quite like a status update - no longer interested, too expensive, committed to his club, still an option etc

The latest on the Torres rumours - skysports.com

Atletico deny Torres rumours
By Peter ORourke -  Created on 25 Jun 2007

Atletico Madrid have denied reports that they have received an offer from Liverpool for Fernando Torres.

Reports over the last few days have suggested Liverpool were planning a move for the Spanish international.

It had been claimed Liverpool were ready to break their transfer record to sign Torres in a £25million deal.

Torres' future at Atletico is up in the air after another disappointing campaign at the Vicente Calderon last season.

The 23-year-old is believed to be considering moving on for a new challenge, but Atletico president Enrique Cerezo says they have received no offers for the talented forward.

"We've received no offer from Liverpool or any other club or player," said Cerezo.

"There is nothing linking Torres with any team. He's on holidays, he's resting and he'll return to work on July 9."

-------------------------------------------------------------

well looks like it's not going to be him Liverpool are going after before pre-season training, which is a shame, but i hope we do put an offer in. Hope these Torres rumours aren't a load of bull :(

I know it's sky sports but a similar story was said on Radio City so it looks like its a true statement.

or its just a smoke screen? you dont go about shouting about new deals before they have completed it opens up other clubs to come in with hijack offers.

I'd rather have Cisse instead of Torres. IF WE BUY TORRES FOR 25MILLION POUNDS WE WILL BE THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE WHOLE WORLD EXCEPT ALL THE TEENAGE GIRLS.
