When it's time to renew his contract, then we should do everything in our power to make sure that we sign him up, because regardless of if he's been our best player or not last season, he's still immense, and will be for the next 5 years
I'm sorry Kharhaz, but great individuals make great teams.
Stevie G.?
Sounds like something off Roy of the Rovers.
Steven Gerrard. NotStevie G. lid.
Absoloutely embarressing.

What absoloute utter rubbish you are chatting.
The completely bellendness of your post is just typical of some foreign know nothin upstart who thinks he knows what he's talking about when actually has no idea at all.
Go and watch agame lad an watch the lad live. He's
outstanding every single time he played.
I remember the Villa away game (you mentioned) and himself and Gareth Barry stood out by a mile for quality. No other player on the pitch looked capable of playing Sunday league yet those two stood out simpley for their over all quality. The only things in the match that were done with any quality came from those two players, the rest of the players on the pitch where a joke.
The problem stems from the dickheads who think he can do it on his own. Steven Gerrard's a team player, against Chelsea in the semi final for the first 70 minutes he was by a mile the best player on the pitch, he tackled, passed, ran, dribbled, headed the ball, he doneeverything and he even set the
goal up for the arsewholes who can't see the rest of the game.
Its idiots who can't see the rest of his game that wind me up. This season he's played far better alround than he did last. He's quite simply failed to score the same amount of goals.
I mean, we should really expect 23 goals a season from a central midfielder... 11 is completely unacceptable... 11 goals a season from midfield... bah... disgrace!![]()

Oh thats where I went wrong, I replied to you. Villa game (you mentioned) when? when did I mention the villa game?
And when did I mention I expect Gerrard to win games single handedly? I didnt, and if the season gone was better than the last for him then I repeat what I ask, what has he done to warrant a new contract?

Kharhaz wrote:Definately a key player but key players have gone before and been replaced, Clemence, Keegan, Hunt. I dont like the idea that the team is based around certain individuals who are guaranteed the best even when they dont play well. Would Gerrard have got a new contract if Shankly was in charge? The answer is no, he kept the players feet firmly on the ground. All I see is people trying to justify the contracts the players have recently got but the only one who consistently earns his money is Jamie Carragher. He has been rightly rewarded because he loves the club and you see it when he plays. Steve Finnan also, does the job with little to no reward, but because Gerrard and Alonso are big names its automatic. Are these contracts given for performances or because they generate shirt sales?
Dont get me wrong, I think Gerrard is the best in the world, and im glad hes decided we are the club to be at but im struggling to see why hes given another pay rise. Let his current contract run to the last year then review it. It seems to me that many on here are viewing LFC as the club which other supporters and sky view us as, and that is a one man team.
