Owen isnt really a big signing. With all these supposed new cash i expect some big names. Names that will shock Europe.
I dont want Owen. Its all good saying "I dont care about Newcastle" however it doesnt change the fact that Owen hasnt given newcastle anything and even if the clause is triggered the least he should do is play for them this season.
I cant buy all this Owen never really wanted to go there. Thats not what he said when he signed. He didnt tell the fans that. Also nobody forced him to leave Madrid anyway. He made that decision and easily could of refused to go to Newcastle.

Having a "get out of jail clause" in his contract hardly says it was his dream to play for Newcastle.

Not sure if i want him, but lets not get caught up in all this he owes them b'llocks. This is football, and football is pretty cruel at times, Owen may have been signed for them...but with an understanding that there was a release clause.
Someone made sure that was there and he has every right to exorcise that if a club comes in that he fancies, at the end of the day the lads nearly 28 and could only have a few years left, who are we to say that he has to spend it in the freezing north east competing for feck all every season.
Clubs sometimes release players when they dont want to go (see Fowler) its part and parcel of the game.
If Owen could stay injury free and we can get him for 9 million, then we would be daft not to be considering it.

Exactly what I'm thinking Sabre, here we go again.
We must have gone over the viability of Alonso in virtually every thread!
Even when he had a thread dedicated to him and only him where everything from his shoe size to his hair cut were analysed, he pops up randomly like a jack in the box and the same stuff gets regurgitated. I suppose that's just a symptom of silly season!

No, LFC2007, I didn't mean that.
A football forum is not a football about computers in which you advance in a project, and once you have the version 3.0 you keep working on it and you don't come back to analysed points.
Here to overlap topics is quite easy, and you might have a thread about Alonso, but then when talking about signing ups the topic drifts again to the midfield and the talk about how a signing up fits.
Plus, people tend to have a mold, and a rotation believer like me when he see results, tend to comment again in a 2 month time. When rotation not works, rotation slashers will have their say. So that's why topics repeat once and again. It's inherent to football discussion.

I did read somewhere (can't remember where unfortunately so you'll just have to take my word for it) that Gerrard & Carra were pushing for Rafa to sign Owen back as has Parry but Rafa is believed to be dead against it as he isn't happy at the way Owen snubbed him by walking out to Madrid not long after Rafa took over.
I am with Rafa on this one if the above is true. My apathy towards Owen comes from the way he snubbed Rafa after he made the effort to travel all the way to Portugal to meet him and Gerrard.
Yes the circumstances meant that Liverpool had to sell that summer to get any money but signing a one year extension with the club that had taken him to where he was would not have been too much to ask in my view. However thats all in the past now. For Owen to come back now I think he would have a lot of bridges to rebuild with Rafa and have to make some concessions. However a fully fit and scoring Owen for £9m is a tempting prospect.

And that would be a pleasure to read, as recently he was without posting and the forum noticed it. Where as I disagree him on certain topics, he always have a good explanation for his thoughts. I'm more píssed off when someone states something as if it was an universal truth and doesn't explain why -- for instance, "Rafa's tactics are negative!!" and that's that.
And yes it was an Spanish saying, we have another one "the goats tend to go to the mountains" meaning, we all tend to repeat things we think at the slightest chance to do so
Football discussion has it's patterns. When you win, everybody is optimistic, when you lose, the doom and gloom appear. And yes, when you talk about football, topics are repeated, by all of us.
Instead of Eto'o, the desired boy in the past was Joaquin.
When you play 1 striker and you lose, the 2 strikers defenders appear, and Sabre defends the continental game. When we lose with 2 strikers, Sabre defends the need to keep balance and defensive rigour.
When you have Gerrard in the right, a massive discussion arises.
When the transfer window appear, some posters that do not appear through out the year pop up, and tell us what we really need and at what price
It's quite repetitive to be honest, but it seems quite addictive aswell
Anyhow, if you're surviving a summer in Newkitt, chances are that you're going to like it in October, because, football is what gives life to a football discussion forum.
