First of all, avoid Saviola like the plague. He's just a mercenary interested in money, he won't care one bit about Liverpool or it's fans, just how much he could milk you for.

It all started when he was signed by Louis van Gaal (he wasted alot of money). He was offered an absolutely ridiculous contract as he was at the time the next big thing, and duly signed. Then a new board comes in, after things had gotten messy financially at Barca, and players were asked if they could take a pay cut in order to help the club through a differcult patch. All players agreed bar one, Saviola
So he fell out with president Laporta and was sent out on loan. First he was sent to Monaco and then Sevilla the following season. Due to the huge salary he was on, Barca had to pay part of his wages even while he was out on loan. He then came back to the club with a year left on his contract, and Barca decided they didn't want to loan him out again paying part wages and then lose him for nothing. So they looked to sell him, and there were quite a few people willing to buy him. But none of them were prepared to pay the silly wages he was on at Barca, so he chose to turn everyone down. So then Barca got desperate to offload him, so offered him to clubs on a free transfer, but again even with no fee his wages provided a stumbling block.

So he has spent the season at Barca pretty much as the 5th striker. He's put money before his career on more than one occassion, and IMO has wasted it. Barca made him an offer they knew he would refuse when they offered him a new contract. It was abit of an insult to offer it, but one that he totally deserved.

The quicker he is kicked out the club the better, and that isn't too long now :D

Would you gladly accept a paycut if your boss asked you to do it? I wouldn't.

I'm not earning several million a year, so how can you even compare it?

It's not like they asked him to play for peanuts, and everyone else asked put the club first. And i'm sure they've since been rewarded with much improved contracts now money is no longer an issue.

He :censored: Barca over and there is no one who can say different, the facts speak for themselves.

even funnier that guy who said hed rather keep bellamy !
and ooo...Voronin is coming...what was everyone thinking ?! :no
seriously though...hes better than all we got here thus far....maybe crouch and kuyt are staying but voronin im not so sure about... his scoring record is average... if i was to pick 4 strikers for next season...id definately think of him as a good option to have if we'r only going to sign one topclass striker...

kuyt - saviola - voronin - NEWSIGNING

id rather keep crouch than keep kuyt but rafa rates kuyt and i dont think hes going anywhere ! crouch is said to b staying on for another season...dont get me wrong i like him and think he can do a job for us but... saviola is the better player of the 2 and the money we get for crouch can be used in getting the best wingers out there !
makes sense eh ?!

+ IFF etoo signs hes out for some time...african cup and all so we'll be a striker down...

Absolute rubbish IMO.

Semolina is a small, nippy striker, with little strength, no aerial threat and decent finishing ability.

What would he add to our front line?

Would he create like Crouch does and even finish like Crouch can, would he pose as much of an aerial threat as any of our other strikers?

Would he chase back like Kuyt and help build our play?

I don't think he would do any of these, he is unproven in Europe - came with a huge reputation and a wage to match but has failed miserably.

As for not being sure about Voronin, he's not even played for us yet!!!

Get real.

All what Barsa Murph says is true, but I'm not sure it's all the truth, because I remind reading aswell that the club fúcked the player a bit aswell.

Not cutting your wages when the club asks for it is a bit selfish, but I'm not sure we know all the fácts.

For what is worth, he'd be the perfect replace for Bellamy, would provide his pacy game, only that with loads more of quality. The difference of quality between a welsh and argentinan international, no more, no less.

Another mate, I think Rushie#9 has mentioned aswell that the possibility of him going to Madrid was strongly rumoured and even admitted by the player (the possibility), and that's true.

I wonder if Saviola will revenge and join the archenemy, that's the worst thing you can do to Barcelona (Laudrup, Schuster, Figo), or instead will join us. I think he'd be a good signing for a free. A very good one. In Monaco he did well, and in Sevilla he was decent. It's obvious the lad adapts quickly to new clubs.

He has the reputation of being somewhat problematic in the dressroom, but he wouldn't be the first one to have it in the Liverpool dressroom.

For me? thumbs up.

Semolina is a small, nippy striker, with little strength, no aerial threat and decent finishing ability.

Compared to Bellamy who's also small and is not much of an aerieal threat, he would bring a far better finnishing, far better ball control, far better dribling, and far better movement .

A far better striker, that is.

I don't think you can blame him for not taking a wage cut, if Barcelona are stupid enough to offer him such a huge contract in the first place given he was an unproven talent from South America then I think they are crazy.

Only if they were in serious financial difficulty (leeds united scale) would I expect a player to take a partial cut in wages.

Yes Barca were out of their minds offering him such a contract, but thats when we had an idiot in charge wasting away money.

Barca had a debt in excess of 150million, and yes had they asked just Saviola to take a wage cut it would be wrong. But the fact all the other players asked took one and he didn't proves he didn't have the clubs best interests at heart.

Then when we offered to sell him he stayed on the bench to claim the bigger wages rather than go elsewhere to play 1st team football. The same happened when we eventually offered him a free transfer. He's just a mercenary and i don't even rate him that highly as a player. Gudjohnsen is better than him IMO.

You have a point there.

Plus we should know all the facts about what happened, not only the Barcelona version, under some circunstances, if the team is treating you badly, I'd understand a player refuses to cut his wages.

Gudjohnsen is better than him IMO.

Gudjohnsen is a better professional, and might train harder, but he's not a better player.  :)
