Well then, if you like shooters, you'll be happier than a pig in sh.it with Gears of War and also with GRAW1 and 2, as well as Rainbow Six: Los Vegas. R6 is fookin brilliant, and seeing that you are fond of casinos, you might like shooting terrorists in among the krap tables and one arm bandits. :D

jbg  we have finally found something we agree on!!!!

Oblivion: If you like role playing games, Oblivion is the best by far. I'm absolutely addicted to it. Its got a clock in it which records how much you've played it. So far I'm up to 75 hours.

Awesome game BUT I have just started Shivering Isles (the extension) and thats even better!
I have competed OBLIVION about 5 times now so I was desperate for more and Shivering Isles certainly seems more than good enough up to now. More like Morrowind (which I loved ) it seems to have the best of both, Awesome!

Do you play Obliv on xbox or on PC? I have both and there are  brilliant mods on the PC, but I tend to play it more on the 360.

oh i dont know paul.. they are entertaining enough. If a little cheesy. The sparse info we already have, is enough to make me buy it based on past encounters. San Andreas was one of only a handful of titles i actually completed 100%on the old system. If this offering is even half as representative as depicted in the trailer (in game engine?) i will definately find some more love for Rockstar on the 360.

:;):

I really hope that is the proper ingame engine and not touched up (ooh matron) shots of the engine to mislead the public (ala Killzone 2). If it is the real deal then GT4 is number one on my list for this autumn (ahead of Halo 3).

I reckon it is. No way can a game be that good graphically, it's unbelievable.  :O

PC,  I havn't tried any mods on Oblivion yet but used to use a few on morrowind , Elric of Melnibone was my fav mod. I have never tried the x-box version. Once I have finished Shivering Isles I will get the leveling mod as its frustrating not being able to get the good stuff till later when you start again. (I have used consule cheats but thats cheating  :D ) I usually just use the dupe cheat to save me searching for soul gems.

There are millions of mods out there.

Many alter the game play, many alter the graphics.

Bethesda released a new patch last week for both Xbox and PC versions which improves LOD (line of draw) which makes objects in the distance less blocky without sacrificing performance.

If you have a very powerful PC you can use the various texture mods which make the game insanely beautiful. There are also fixes for the waters and shodows on the water, and with all the graphics mods the game looks absolutely breathtaking. However, I have a fairly high end PC (built around an ATI x1960xtx 512mb graphics card) and Oblivion at max settings can reduce it to tears so to really see Obliv with all the bells and whistles you need a high end Core 2 Duo processor and an NVidia 8800GTX graphics card.

Some of the gameplay mods are very good, particularly the levelling mods and the extra missions.

At the moment I play Obliv on my Xbox 360 as the performance is more consistent and I love Microsoft's achievement points system. I also downloaded the Shiveirng Isles for the 360 and have started on that.

I'll be upgrading my computer at Xmas and will get a quad core CPU and a DirectX10 graphics card and then I will kit Obliv out with all the mods. I can't wait.

I have the high end core 2 duo comp but not the card to go with it, only a 256mg nvidia 7900gs as I dont play many games. I'm more of a  :pirate  really  :D So I need the processor for transcoding etc.

if you dont mind me asking. Why?   Ive got the original GRAW and have been considering this sequel. But seeing as how ive put limited time into the first game, will this offer anything fresh (besides the enhanced presentation)....

Obviously i can trawl the boards for similar answers. But i respect your points of view JBG.

I dunno, it just struck a nerve with me.

Some people have been describing it as being "GRAW 1.5" and in some ways it is, rather than a full blown sequal. The story takes place immediately after the events at the end of GRAW 1.

To begin with the single player game is far far better than the original, with a much improved story and far more dramatic action. Much of the game revolves around a battle in Juarez that spills over the border into Texas. There are parts where you have to order in airstrikes and this is simply awe inspiring, as the noise of the bomber and the missiles striking their targets is so overwhelming it really makes you feel that you are in the middle of the battle.

Ubisoft also tidied up the control interface a lot, and while it is not perfect it is a major improvement over the first. Its now much easier to control your team mates. Also, you can carry out aerial reconnaisance with the drone and also with helicopters and this is far easier to do and more integrated into the missions than the first.

The single player campaign mode was one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. I completed it over two days as I was just hooked by the story.

The game has many little touches which overall add far more atmosphere and realism to the game. Your team mates talk more and what they say is far more relevant to what is going on on the battlefield. For example, when in recon mode, their voices come across telling you how many enemies are up ahead. The use of voices is absolutely brilliant. There was one mission where the guys were carrying out a recon sweep of a building and one of them reported back "Captain, three bad guys up ahead." Just as he said this another enemy came around a corner and the guy corrected himself by saying "Scratch that captain, I see another one. Four bad guys up ahead". Your crew will also warn you in times of peril "Captain, there's a sniper on the roof and you're not in cover." etc.

And finally, there are the graphics. GRAW2 has unquestionably the most awesome graphics I have ever seen, absolutely sensational. There is one mission at the start of the game set in Mexico where you operate a cannon on a helicopter. Its absolutely p.issin' rain and visibility is poor. As you fire the cannon you can see the water swirling off it realistically in accordance with the wind and the direction of the helicopter. There is another scene where you are ferried by helicopter into the city of Juarez as the sun is setting and all around you can see smoke and the flashes of battle. Absolutely f.uckin' jaw dropping.

The only criticism is that the single player mode is far too short and is over before you know it but I would position GRAW2 as being up there with Gears of War. Its that good.

Thanks JBG. youve pretty much convinced me to go for GRAW2. I love the sound of all that. Infact i love Tom Clancy games per se.

btw. there is a NEW multiplayer map due for G.O.W Called 'Annexe' which is apparantly imminent also. Happy days.

GRAW2 is a great game and I think the online play is better than the first, it's different to Rainbow Six LV imo and very different to the style of GOW, all are fantastic games although if you want online gameplay GOW beats all hands down although the career mode in GRAW2 and RSLV are superior to GOW imo :)

If anyone plays GOW online give me a shout......... PaulConUK :;):
