Mass Effect will be a biggie.

At the moment I've been playing Oblivion a lot. Its an absolute classic.

check this out. (if your still bothered  :D ) Not the best clips of Crackdown ive seen (there are dozens on Youtube) but its been put together very nicely. And offers a reasonably accurate account of what to expect in this fast becoming 'cult' title. Enjoy.

there has been a small autoupdate released for Crackdown. Fixing minor issues. But there is also some brand new DLC imminent.

Crackdown is good, but could have been a whole lot better had they expanded the missions and made them more varied.

Unsurprisingly, there is 'rumour' of a sequel...here's hoping. Lessons learnt and all that, it could well end up an extremely good game next time round.

Incredible game all the same Red.

Have you climbed to the top of the agency tower yet and base jumped off it? I tried the other day (I slipped just as I was about to get to the top) and I swear to god, I got a terrible sense of vertigo.

I have never, ever had that sensation from any other experience than from the real thing (not that ive done it, literally  :D ) No chance!

But the sense of sheer dread, when you are attempting to find the slenderest of ledges upon which to cling to, which isnt 100% clearly visible from where your guy is standing...20 odd feet above and with 10 to 15 times that much space below him in the event of a misplaced leap!! - is absolutely Awesome. Sweaty palms for sure. I did reach the top in about 20 minutes  :D  But only after extreme caution along the way. Even then (though i did get the 2 achievements) i could simply not face, the final leap to that Orb, thats flashing enticingly on top of the highest antennae - some parts just arent able to be reached (by my fear of heights anyway)   :lookaround

The only other time I experienced a "real life" sensation from playing a game (comparable to the vertigo in Crackdown) was playing Half Life 2 on PC. There's a long sequence where you have to use a motorised raft and you need to jump through all of these obstacles on a river. After about twenty minutes I felt ill from motion sickness.

I know just the place.

another one for me was in Gears when that blind thing chases you and you have to make it smash through the doors.  :lookaround   a bit creepy.  Kind of like that feeling when you enter a lift and hear voices coming from down the hidden corridor getting nearer...and you go into paranoid mode, praying for the doors to shut quick!  well i do anyway  :D

Yeah, the Beserkers are pretty tough. After a while I could manage them though. What really annoyed me was how Dom :D  kept getting himself iced, which is kind of unfair, as you have no control over him. That was one of the game's few weaknesses, as the game should punish a player's lack of skill, not punish him for poor luck.

thats em. Beserkers. Not especially tough...but all the same, quite a squeaky bum moment when they are pounding up behind you and you just know your going to have to turn and face him/her/it eventually.

I know what you mean about Dom  :glare:

some interesting points here about the GTA4 trailer. Particularly the fact that it was indeed the game engine running.  :buttrock

I was talking to Dawson in another thread about the 360, which he is planning on buying soon.

I hope this can be of some guide to Dawson and others and I'm sure Paul and Red will give some input as well.

Games to Get:

Gears of War. The best game on the 360. Its very, very violent and not for the faint hearted. Its basically a shoot em up where you have to clear a number of stages before moving to the next one. There isn't much by way of puzzles: its simply about getting to one end of the level to the next by shooting as many of the bad guys as you can. However, its an absolutely awesome experience with some of the best graphics you'll ever see. An absolute must by.

Project Gotham Racing 3 (PGR3): the best driving game on the 360 and if you like driving games, this is simply one of the best around. I'm not a massive driving game fan and Paul C can tell you more about it than I can. If you are buying it, do not pay top dollar for it as it can easily bought second hand for only a few quid.

Pro Evolution Soccer 3: If you like football games, this is the best of the lot, better than FIFA and other games. Like PGR3, you can pick it up cheaply as sports games are the most common type of game which gets traded in.

Oblivion: If you like role playing games, Oblivion is the best by far. I'm absolutely addicted to it. Its got a clock in it which records how much you've played it. So far I'm up to 75 hours.

Crackdown: its a tiny bit like Grand Theft Auto. You play a super cop with bionic powers who can literally jump over buildings and throw cars at people. Its mental, although a bit short lived.

Ghost Recon One and Two: These games have the best graphics of any game on any system. Absolutely awesome gameplay as well.

A couple of other tips Dawson:

1. You really need a High Definition tv to get the best from the 360. If you play it on a normal tv you are missing out on much of the best graphics. If you don't have a high definition tv (which are getting cheaper every day) you can hook it up to a computer monitor by getting an XBOX VGA cable. I have my Xbox linked in to my computer monitor and I can easily switch from my PC to console without plugging in and plugging out cables by using a Data Transfer Switch, a simple device which you can easily pick up on the net.

2. Shop around when buying games. Buy online. Play.com and a few other websites often have deals where you can buy some great games at massively reduced prices.

There are plenty more. Depends on what kind of game you like. Also, many (although not all) old Xbox1 games work on it as well, such as Halo 1 and 2, Ninja Gaiden Black, Fable and Jade Empire.
