The reason the bloke didnt face criminal proceedings had a lot to do with that. If he had been taken to court (and he woulda got time for attempted gbh) then the players would have been in court too... so he got the fine and life time ban instead.

cowards, its all very well being tough when you have the police there to protect you.

now can someone tell me the difference between cantona kicking a guy and cashley and drogba kicking they guy (apart from the fact he had encroached on the pitch)

in fact the force they used was not needed and not reasonable as the guy was already subdued, the guy should also make a police report

peewee i am not condoning anything here but...

I don't think you can compare the incident with cantona's infamous flying kick.

Cantona responded to heckling/abuse from the crowd, something he and every pro footballer faces each and every day. Its not nice, but its the price of the wage packet.

But thats not the main difference. Cantona went into the crowd, a domain for the fans.

dog-boy was on the pitch, where he is supposed to be, and that fan had no right to be. That is the main difference, i reckon i could argue after that fan ran onto the pitch and threw a punch at fat fwank, anything that occurred after was a result of his own actions.

But it is still pretty disgracful the way chelsea players got stuck in, but i don't think they deserve any sort of punishment, other than stern words.

Incidentally i was walking past a book fair at lunch and was stunned to see Frank Lampards autobiography. I didn't know he could read or write, but the title was:

FRANK LAMPARD - ENGLANDS GREATEST PLAYER

:wwww what utter rubbish

The dude who attacked Lampard was out of order.

The fences around the pitch were taken down so people could easily escape in an emergency.

They weren't taken down so knobheads could invade the pitch and attack the players.

It was the most pathetic punch ever though!! I've seen better shots on target from Cisse last year!
