FFS, in the realm of "duh" headlines Rafa's remark even surpasses the announcement out of Paris last week that global warming's caused by human activity.  This is a non-story.  What next, they going to get wound up if we suggest they have blue strips?  Get a grip! :no

Obviously, I've got no problem with the remark except in the sense that it tries to pass the buck.  Yes, smaller teams like Everton, Portsmouth, Watford, MK Dons, etc are going to come to Anfield and park the bus.  It's up to us--as a big club--to break them down and collect three points.  We failed to do that on Saturday so the fault lays squarely with our lads rather than the Bitters.  Simple really.

Everton nowadays are not as big as they used to be.  Rafa calling them a small or smaller club should not be read a insult.  They are nowhere near the top 4 and they certainly did park the bus to get a point.  I agree with those who thought this was blown way out of proportion.

Rafa was right.

They ARE a small club. True, they've won things in the past, but heck so have a lot of other teams that are considered small too.

He just said many small clubs play very defensively against the bigger clubs. That's all. He wasn't saying they were wrong to do it.

It only hurts the Everscum fans, because they know that Rafa was right.

I think Everton fans do have the right to get upset because I don't think anyone likes people calling them small or smaller  . I mean if I say to you you got a small or smaller D**k, you would be upset too. So, for saying Everton is a small or smaller club is the same as saying they have a small or smaller D**K. :p Also, getting this kind of strong reaction from them is because they really have a small or smaller D**K. That's why. Poor thing.... :D

When Moyes referred to Everton as the "people's club", as opposed to Liverpool, despite LFC attracting three quarters of a million people onto the streets following the Champions League win, why was that OK, but calling them a small club wasn't?

Fact is, if Everton didn't honestly know deep down that they ARE a small club, it would not have bothered them so much. The fact they are so upset is because they know Rafa was accurate in his description of them. To consider a win and a draw against one's biggest rival to be a cause to celebrate when currently only in the mid-table area and trophyless for twelve years is a sure sign of a small club with narrow horizons.

talking about accuracy, everybody knows rafa was right (even everton's fans would admit it in their hearts); and if everton attributed themselves as "small" it might be an effort to be taken "modest",

but if other clubs attribute you as "small". they can't expect not to reap criticisms.

meself don't really care and back rafa for what he said.

Rafa is just saying what most of us thought. But I guess as a manager and public figure, he has to watch what he says..... unlike most of us here in the forums :)

I am so feckin angry and disgusted at those Everton fans   on saturday, waving copies of the sun, putting their hands over their mouths reguarding Hillsborough.
Justice for the 39, I would like to ask what they are going to do about getting justice?
Michael Sheilds,
Alex Curran,
Steven Gerrard,
DNA,
and the worst of all is dispicable, they stood by the memorial and sang a song about Lescott,

Lescott wherever you may be,
We dont care that your ugly f.uckin,
It could be worse you could be red
Pushing down walls and pi.ssing on the dead.

I am very worried where this derby is going there will be deaths soon.
Its about time the both clubs done something about it to put a stop to it.
The saddest part is these morons where not even born when Heysel or Hillsborough happened, I am always proud to be a scouser but I have to say I am embarressed that I was born in the same city as these scumbags.
I will be making a formal complaint to EFC, LFC and the FA today.
These thugs are giving Everton a very bad name, and the genuine blues have probably stopped going to Goodison due to their behaviour.
I am not saying our fans are innocent far from it, but they dont stoop as low as these have over the last 10 years.
Its got to stop before there is blood shed the problem is no one has the guts to actually come out and point the finger in the press and say it like it is.
My blue family are disgusted by this whole thing, and I wont be going to another derby ever again.

Making fun of Hillsborough is absurd, because chances are many Everton fans had relatives or friends who were killed during the disaster.

The Heysel thing is equally ridiculous. No official inquiry was ever held so LFC were not to blame. The only reason Everton fans whine about Heysel is because it prevented them from entering the European Cup, although I laugh at their arrogance. Just because they should have been in the European Cup for those two years doesn't mean they would have won it.

But let's just say they won the Cup in 1986 and 1988. Big deal, that's just two. Even Forest could manage that. If LFC were in Europe in that era, I suppose we would have won the 1987, 1989 and 1991 European Cups too?

So that's Everton 2 Liverpool 8.

What did they say about DNA and Alex Curran?
