Whats the problem with our forwards?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I agree with Stu in that non of our strikers are out and out goalscorers with the exception of Fowler who seems to have disappeared off the face of the planet recently.

All of our main three strikers, Crouch, Bellamy and Kuyt do 75% of their work outside the penalty area. That's why we've had to rely largely on goals from the midfield (Gerrard, Garcia) in recent seasons.

Just going back to Owen, at least in the big games against the big sides, he was always likely to nick a goal out of nothing when the side wasn't playing well. I just don't see that in any of our forwards at the moment, especially away from home.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Manure all have more than us. In fact I'd go as far as to say that those teams respective forward lines and wide players pi$$ all over ours. Until that state of affairs is addressed and put to rights we won`t be winning the title any time soon. Sorry to sound so negative but it`s the truth.

I think our problems in front of goal come down to our wide men sucking. Our wingers are :censored: (except kewell but hes crocked) and our forwards will suffer until they improve.

Totally. As soon as Pennant and Gonzalez start playing well that will make Kuyt and Bellamy get in the box and start attacking the ball, it will also improve there heading ability and ability to put the ball in the net. Totally agree...

So far I only rate Bellamy, Kuyt looked good when he started but has gone off the boil lately.

Sometimes you get what you pay for. Need to buy top quality in the Summer.

woof woof,

Lucas neil is joining in Jan for deffo.

Moscheranno is looking more and more likely for Jan.

If Peter Crouch goes which it looks likely, as Raffa said same about not wanting to sell Cisse. Then his no1 target is David Villa. Otherwise it will be Jan Koeller similar to Crouch but much better in all aspects of his game. Also depends how much cash becomes available in Jan. Villa looks more likely in the summer.

Simao will be targeted again in the summer.
Alves will be targeted again in the summer.

The whispers going around at moment is Lennon being targeted in Jan.

Thats all for now!!

i think we need to start bringing in some proven quality players in certain positions...
Wouldnt fancy us goin after Huntelaar... come to think about it.... could be Kuyt all over again !
I personally think Kuyt is a good player... no more... hes a poor forward and thats that.
Bellamy is a better forward... but ccant be relied on to score week in week out !

I'll say it again... until we improve the quality of our players... which at the moment is nowhere near as good as the likes of ManUtd, Chelsea and even in most positions Arsenal.. i dont think we'll be seen as genuine title contenders !

Our forwards seem to have let the team down in quite a few games this season so far... i think if we had a good finisher... an owen-like player in our forward line playing alongside either Kuyt or Bellamy, we would have scored many more goals and would have won atleast a couple more games !

Villa has been an exceptional player in spain the last couple of seasons... dont know if he'll make it in England though..would still love it if we sign him !

way to go backing kuyt mate

do you not remember drogba last year

united s forwards aren't scoring that many they seem to get them from all over ,would you swap saha for kuyt not me

it is always easy to say buy villa etc etc because they are scoring in there leagues, but all signings from over seas need settling time

and players like yakubu and bent aren't good enough for lfc as pennat is showing that there is a big gulf in the pressure stakes,

we have to go young to get a bargin so get the scout off their :censored: and find mike owen mark 2
