Hey peewee you auditioning for a cheer-leading spot for the knee-jeck brigade?  :p

We are closer now than we have been since the treble to clinching the league.

We aren't out of it yet. We can probably afford one more loss this season IF we can beat the top sides at home.

Only time will tell, I would be sure we'll be closer at the end of the season than we are now. Next season we'll be good enough.

The flaw in Hyypia's game is that he cannot pass, he can only hoof it up the pitch, giving away possession. We should go after Anthony Van Den Borre.

Lahm, for me, would be a dream buy. His attacking and distribution for a left back is second to none. I would bloody love it if Lahm came here! I'd bloody love it!
By the waym did anyone see the right midfielder for Levski Sofia the other night against CSKA Chelsea? I don't know his name but he looked tasty. Busy, tracking back and willing to take them on.

i have to say IMHO i hope rafa doesnt sign anyone. I believe that the players we have currently are capable of winning the league, providing we get the best out of them. I mean, WTF??? are we saying lets sign all these big names cos thats wot Chavski have done the last few seasons - f**k that!!!

I hate to say it, but look at the squad the scum have got, i mean f**king Fletcher? O'Shea? dont try and tell me that we havent players to match their quality all through our squad, and they are regulars in their team, not just fringe players. I think all the new signings of the summer need or have needed time to settle, which IMO is now starting to happen. I reckon if we can get back to the sort of team spirit that saw us come back from a 3 goal deficit one night in may last year (against a very good AC Milan side i might add) we can once again be the team to beat in England and, possibly, Europe for a few years to come.

This last paragraph is obviously retrospective to the rest of this post, and it kinda contradicts the rest of what iv said here (but f**k it, im not starting again) - I do actually think we need a top quality right winger, i cant see Pennant cutting it in a side that wants to challenge for the league (although not bad cover, but thats all he should be, at best)

Thats good posative thinking. Given that we seem to be finding some form now (touchwood) and that we have got a lot of the tough away fixtures out of the way we could still finish 2nd or 3rd.

Sorry mate, i have to disagree with you there.

Our current sqaud of players are not good enough to win the PL.  We are about four players short IMO.  We need four top class players, that combined with the top players we allready have would make us a very strong team.

Dont get me wrong, we arent too far off. I do think it has been evident though when we have played the big three that we just arent quite good enough.

In response to the Hyppia discussion, he is one player i definitely wouldnt sell.  He is by no means finished.

Indeed, whilst he may not posess the stamina to last a whoe season at top pace game in game out he still holds unparalled experience which can be passed on to the younger lads coming through.

The same could be sent for Robbie to an extent. Id actually like to see Sammi and Robbie stay on at the club and work with coaches perhaps training the lads at the academy.

I can't see us winning the league; I had the utmost optimism until we got trounced by Arsenal. That said it’s not impossible for us to win the league, if we play well and win matches we can win the league or at least close the gap considerably from which currently separates us from Chelsea and United. Hopefully we can build on the Wigan away match and carry that on in our away games. I think its debatable saying that we have good enough players to win us the league, I think we are one or two players off from making the transition from being a good team to a very good team.  Hopefully we’ll have more money behind us so that Rafa can buy his first choice players and not having to resort to buying bulk up the squad with second tier players.  I don’t think anyone with a brain is saying lets go out and buy hordes of good players for expensive prices,  only the Football Manager addicts are suggesting this, but who listens to these people?  Man Utd have managed to gel their youngsters into the first team relatively well, like what Arsenal are doing (through being forced to) and this will pay off for them in a few years time. Arsene Wenger and Ferguson are great at moulding new talent into their squads, Fergie’s made a career of doing it and Wenger is about to follow suit. Sadly we don’t have too many bright sparks in our youth system by the looks of things and even if we have Rafa isn’t playing them on a regular basis, he’d rather play Zenden in the middle than say Guthrie or Peltier.
