Premiership footballer El Hadji Diouf has been arrested over allegations he hit his wife at their home in Bolton.
The 25-year-old, who plays for Bolton Wanderers, was held by police after reports of an assault on his wife Valerie in the early hours of Sunday.

The Senegal international was given bail and must return to a police station on Wednesday to find out if he will be charged.

Diouf joined the club from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee in June 2005.

The striker was initially brought to England by former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier, who signed him from French club Lens for £10m in 2002.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "At 0645 GMT on Sunday 5 November police were called to an address in Bolton following reports of an assault.

"Officers attended and a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault.

"He has been bailed until Wednesday 8 November pending further inquiries."

I never had a lot of respect for Diouf after the Celtic match and his antics since have never caused me to regret Rafa selling(giving?) him. He's actually a decent player but his attitude stinks and we are well shut of him.

The only good thing Diouf ever did was to get Houllier pushed out, which enabled Rafa to move in.

Diouf is aruably the biggest transfer mistake this club has ever made in it's history.

Bought for well above his true market value, £10 million for fucks sake, he was given the number 9 shirt and we knocked back Nicolas Anelka to sign this piece of shit. He went a whole season without scoring a goal in the league, he was hated by his team mates and opposition players and fans, he is a disgusting spitting animal and brought absolutely nothing to Liverpool FC. You could count the number of good games he had on one hand. The only fond (if you can describe it as fond) memory I have of him is the 2003 Worthington Cup final. He had a decent game that day. That's about it. That's where the compliments end. Was that piece of shit worth £10 million?

Got no sympathy for the fucking animal. Hope his wife packs her bags on him.

I will always say that we did sign him before the world cup where he was arguably one of the players of the tournament. that said, he is a dirty animal and im glad we got rid.

As for teh tabloid allegations, ive seen enough from all of our players to know not to read into anything until al the facts are known, which they never are.
