Benitez to be liverpool boss inside 48 hours - Oh happy day!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby anfieldadorer » Mon Jun 07, 2004 11:18 am

Liverpool hope to unveil Rafa Benitez as new manager inside the next 48 hours.

The Guardian says a final round of talks will take place early this week to smooth the finer details of the deal, believed to be a four-year contract worth £25,000 a week, which will virtually double the salary Benítez enjoyed in winning the Spanish League title last season.

Liverpool are anxious to conclude the matter ahead of the start of Euro 2004 as that will give Benítez time to assess squad strengthening this summer.

Benitez's assistant at Valencia, Francisco Ayestaran, will follow him to Anfield.

At least then I can sit back and enjoy Euro 2004 and do a bit of talent spotting.

i dunno, im a big hamman fan. no one seems to notice but he is just the architypical german, just effiecient in what he does. If he does go i would like to see Diao have a proepr run in the team tho but hopefully hamman will stay for one more year at least

That one more year would be handy but his value would plummet.

Bayern can have him in a straight swap deal for Mikael Ballak. Him and Stevie G in the middle would be awesome.

Are you having a laff about Owen Hargreaves?

We don't need him, why? Owen Hargreaves is DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER and it is same as Steve Gerrard's position, there is no way to have two defensive midfielder in first 11 side, we need a CREATIVE MIDFIELDER with good feet, flair and technique!!! Owen Hargreaves is not one of that!!!
