amazing that anyone lived through that.  What about the old girl that was struggling to walk and if the retreating firefighters hadn't stopped to help her they would have all been mush - I think she had a bit of a Jesus complex though - having said that I still think it was miraculous

lol Jesus complex  :D

Yeh that woman and those fire fighters , it wasn't there time, and that distraction became the vehicle for their survival.

What about the 'big' guy who just coudn't get down, and the guy who stayed with him to perish.

The worst feeling was for those who were on the floors above the floors where the planes crashed .. really sad that they had no way out and waited for death.

Those who jumped to there deaths and those who just waited for the inevitable. In that scenario the ones who would have perished immediately on impact of the planes, were the perhaps the 'luckiest' , if u know what I mean.

Death most certaily becomes us all, but such disasters are awful to watch and imagine.

Barry, change the record with the "I'll speak my mind" stuff.

Leave this kind of provocative shit off the forums please.  You knew what would happen after you posted this.

Knock the slanging match off or I'll lock the thread.

In fact, I'm deleting all the shit so maybe we can get back to the thread?

For the record, I was in work and watched it on the telly.  Fuck me it was mad that day.  The world just stood still watching it unfold.  Nobody knew what was going on.

Manhattan was recovering from influenza in bed. My mom woke me up and told me that something was happening in New York City. Manhattan then watched fourty hours straight of news coverage to stay up-to-date on all the developments.

A work colleague was in New York a couple of weeks after 9/11 with his missus (they'd had it booked for ages) and he came back and remarked how bizarre everything felt in NYC, he'd been a few times before and said the whole place felt totally different to before. I got married there just over a year after 9/11 and I can't compare it to anything cos it was the 1st time I'd been there, but the city was just amazing, the absolute dog's bollox and the New Yorkers were just like how you'd imagine them - ballsy, brash, noisy, busy etc etc. But down at ground zero you could cut the atmosphere with a knife. Everywhere else in the city the locals are just "chatter chatter chatter" all day long, but down there they were all totally silent. Bear in mind that it's not a particularly touristy part of Manhattan down there, it's just purely business and offices and skyscrapers and be-suited stockbrokers everywhere. It was wierdly silent there, everybody just walked around with an empty expression on their faces and nobody was on their mobile or chatting or anything

There was (still is?) a massive great wall of hoardings on which there lies the name of every single person (2500?) who died there. The wording is very strong, it says something like here are the names of the men, women and children who were MURDERED here on 9/11...

Work has been under way for a while on the new buildings so I don't know what it looks like now but when I was there it was still very much a hole on the ground where all the rubble had been removed and a lot of the surrounding builings still looked very badly damaged/scarred. The flagship building will be the "freedom Tower" and will be NYC's new tallest building, taller than the twin towers. To me that makes such a good statement to the Islamist terrorists who'd gladly drag the entire world back into the middle ages. LIFE GOES ON, no matter what atrocities they can conceive. LIFE GOES ON, no matter how much they want us all to regress. WE ARE NOT AFRAID.

I was in the works van when the 14:00 news came on saying there had been a plane crash into the WTC. Like many others I thought it'd be a light aircraft as many details weren't given out. When I got back to the offices I started to pick more up as I moved around different areas. First I heard about there being a big whole in the building then I saw it for myself. Then I heard about the second plane and that it was terrorism. But the one image that sticks in my mind was when I finally got home that afternoon. Me dad had Sky news on and i just stood in the doorway watching a replay of the second tower standing intact and then the second plane swooping down from behind it (almost like a bird of prey) and slamming into the tower. Like many I just went numb from top to bottom for days after. This has to be THE most surreal and terrifying moment in living history, knowing that at that exact moment the world had changed for ever.

Here's the new freedom tower that'll be built as a monument to those who lost their lives:

However I think this is a much better response to the terrorists:

I was at home and my brother came down to me and told me that a plain had crashed into one of the towers. I switched the TV on and was hooked for the next week.

A sad sad time for everyone....

But watch this and think again

WATCH IT!!

A perfectly good topic ruined by people who care only about tryin to "shed light" upon a tragic event and "tell the truth" about the terrorists...I'm sorry but F**K off.  There is no need for it, and to be honest, I believe it to be plain stupid.  Punish me, ban me, send me a virus for all I care, but that :censored: is ridiculous and the people who believe that :censored: are arrogant :censored: who would believe anything that had any sort of misguiding truth to it.

I have this and another 6 dvd set........it really tells a convincing story and a believable one.The actual hole at the pentagon was 65ft...a boeing 757 wing tip to wing tip is 165ft.The plane was 100ft too big to make that hole, and no wings or engines are ever found. The whole building 7 thing is weird too.
