"Even Spurs spends more money than Liverpool"

What kind of arguement is that? In my book the less you spend the better, not to mention how some clubs *waste* money. It's titles which make a club great, LFC's history is full of those, and an F.A cup and a Champions League in the last two years says it all.

According to reports he turned down a permanent move to Recreativo because he couldn't agree terms, which basically means he wouldn't take a pay-cut to play regular first-team football. Is that definitely right? My understanding was that he's not currently able to get through a medical, which made Recreativo's interest a non-starter before the window closed.

Just going by Bascombe's piece in the Echo a few days back on transfer ins and outs. If I'm wrong on this one, I'll gladly downgrade my criticism: I'll only lack total respect for Diao as a footballer!

Just proves how shrewd Rafa.B is when it comes to buying and selling. If he buys, but the players isn't getting on (even if he's been here for only 6 months), he'll be shipped out in no time. Rafa.B doesn't waste time.

I feel it's almost like the old times (ie: buying lesser known players), and winning everything (well almost) in sight.

You don't need big names to win games. The players that Rafa is bringing into Liverpool FC, will hit the reight balance in no time at all. We will win the EPL this year and next.

The club will take out loans to pay for the stadium project, which is self financing, so no problems there.

They will also sell the naming rights which will lessen the interest on said loans.

There is also the new TV deal coming into place next season which should see us bringing in an extra 15 million per annum, that will allow us to continue funding the manager in the transfer market.

Once the stadium is up and running we will be more stable and more attractive to potential investors because of the extra revenue.

I mean Benitez compared to Huiller, god how i hate that name, has spent much more wisely. He doesnt just throw out money on the next so called Zidane or Viera, but on good squad players who love Liverpool. Although he has bought a few flops, Nunez, Josemi and Morientes. There combined fees cost less then how much Man Utd paid for diego forlan. You can tell Rafa has done well by the quality of players he has brought in with his limited funds.

Rumour has it, it's because of the haemorrhoids he got from sitting on the bench !!

Plans for a new stadium for Liverpool Football Club and the redevelopment of the neighbouring area, are taking a major step forward.

The city council is being asked to approve measures such as the granting of a lease, restoration work and the setting up of a joint venture company.

The plans will still depend on the club securing its part of the funding for the project.

The overall cost of the first phase of the project will be £215m.

'Poor' area

It includes the new stadium which incorporates a centre with facilities for education, sport and community activities, along with a fully restored Stanley Park.

Council leader Warren Bradley said: "Liverpool Football Club is one of the best-known and most successful in the world.

"Yet it stands in one of the poorest areas, not only in the city, but in the country.

"What we are looking to do is not just provide a new home for the football club fitting for their status as one of the world's best, but use their success to spark a dramatic revival of the Anfield and Breckfield areas."

Sounds promising dosent it!

not just that, we won't just have a full-to-the-roof 40,000 seater but hopefully closer to 70,000 seater which we will fill as well!!
