I didn't want to come across as being vindictive towards Houlier in the opening thread of this section of posts because I think that, compared with Graeme Souness and Roy Evans, the Frenchman has taken the club forward.

However, Houlier did say that it would take him '5 years' to bring the holy grail back to Liverpool and he has failed. On that basis, us Liverpool fans inevitably have got inpatient.

At a club of our size, nothing but the league championship matters therefore, it is time for a change.

You have to give Houlier credit where credit is due: he was a very passionate, determined manager.

Go easy lads.  The man helped us win a few trophies after the 90's drought, helped rebuild Melwood and almost sacrificed his life for the club.

Best of luck for the future Gerard.

if Houllier is relieved of his duties, then the board must make a wise decision on the new manager, as many out there will do no better than Houllier can, Mourinho has hinted he would be interested in joining Liverpool if the opportunity arised (story on icliverpool).

He would be a ideal replacement, and I would love to see him at the club, but if GH is indeed sacked I wish him all the best and have the upmost respect for what he has done here, I believe he still may have what it takes, but if managers of the quality of Mourinho are willing to come then I think it is a step in the right direction.
