Gerrard has done nothing to deserve any type of Royal recognition. If Barry Ferguson's has done lots of charity work and work for communities, then that's fair enough, but an OBE, CBE or Knighthood for ppl who earns thousands of pounds a week for kicking a ball around; is outrageous.  :no

I know you are entitled to your point of view, Oasis, even though I don't agree with you.

My argument is that Gerrard has done alot to promote football at home and abroad. He is a decent fellow and a good example to the youth of today.
He has run his cotton socks off for Liverpool and helped us win the european cup and brought it back to England for good. (The original).
Now he is representing England in the world cup and he is producing the goods yet again!

So many people get these awards and sometimes I wonder what the heck for. If they insist on giving them out as they seem to want to do, give them to someone who has worked for it, even if it is just running your guts out and kicking a ball.
I honestly don't think Stevie is in it for the money.
Slogging his heart out on a football pitch for us and his country is his passion.

Give the boy a break.

i find that answer amazing to be honest.
the recent honours-for-cash row showed the joke these awards are when rich fat cat businessmen where getting knighthoods for a million quid, and fergusons m.b.e was for services to football not charity work.
the whole things just a joke.

Has he saved someones life? No, he hasn't. Has he made some disadvantaged person/persons life so much better? No he hasn't. Sure he plays football for a passion, so did I when I played, do I have an MBE, OBE or Knighthood? No I don't. The ppl who should get recognition are ppl who do things that change someones life or change life as we know it. Doctors, scientists, nurses, surgeons, community workers, foster carers etc. People who risk their lives to save others, ppl who change someones or a group of ppl's lives for the better. These are the ppl who should get recognition. Not celebs, actors and sports ppl.

I am calm and very chilled, I just don't see ppl who save ppl's lives and change ppl's lives get rejected for some idiot who kicks a ball around and gets £100k a week. It's morally wrong and anyone with half a brain will see the injustice with it. :no

I appreciate what you are saying, Oasis, but unfortunately the system doesn't work like that and ordinary people who probably do deserve these awards much more than the celebs don't get them.

I meant out of the celebs who do or could get these awards, I think Gerrard is as deserving as most if not more.
After all these awards are going to be given out to celebs whether we like it or not.

Gerrard is not an idiot, lol, but I'm sure you weren't implying that.

(You do actually support Liverpool, do you not?)    :p    :D

You poor dear!

I've heard that memory loss in old age is a terrible thing,

('though of course I wouldn't know about this myself!)

M*sturbator is such an ugly word I prefer to think of it as executive stress relief. All I need now is a job as an executive, but I have my hands full at the moment  :D
