After Istanbul you never felt Liverpool were out of this, except for maybe when Stevie got injured. Suddenly it didn't look like he could carry on, and we lost that edge. Of course we were all wrong - that's probably the best goal I've ever seen. So, now that the season is over - just how good is this guy compared to other great Liverpool players. Is he more of a legend than God, or the King?
We all know how good he is and how important he is to this current Liverpool side, that's been covered many times and I do not want to reopen the debate about whether or not we are a one man team - but two questions.
1. How does Gerrard stack up against other legends having taken the Reds to thier second trophey in two years, after those comebacks - both in terms of legend status and quality.
2. How does his performance today compare to other great performances, like his own in Istanbul, or Carra's against Chelsea. How does todays individual effort stack up to the great individual performances that this club has produced in the past?
