ARSENAL VS LIVERPOOL - Keep your heads up!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

we obviously play too much passess... no one seems to be holding on to the ball for more than 3secs.. i was just telling my dad the way liverpool plays, with all the passing back and slowly building play, kills momentum.. and will hardly cause goals.. thats really it..

don't believe me? just look at all their games, its either they pass long balls across the entire length or breadth of the field, in a desperate hope that something results out of it... or on receiving the ball in the opponents half, they will turn back and pass back to a more defensive position player to slowly build the attack.. the diff between them and the teams that score more.. EXACTLY just that.

one other thing... Reina has got to be the best player right now in the team... and since we dont have a good striker to pass the ball to.. we tend to pass the ball backwards.. towards the best player... ARSEanal always look to Henry.. and thus pass forward... and best of all.. their midfielders dont treat the ball as if there's a bomb in it... unlike garcia and the rest of our guys..

just remember... the next liverpool game u watch... notice how often they A)either pump long balls or B)pass backwards whenever they receive the ball inthe opponents half. and remember where u heard it first!

everyone has sussed crouch now. it worked for a while due to the chaos he caused... but now most of our play is directed 'up' to him, defenders have a lot more time to get set and deal with the threat.

width is key to getting value out of crouch, where he doesnt have to control and re-direct 'flat' high bombs....pace out wide would supply balls that are whipped in as opposed to floated in. unless he had a sniffer working off him. and we dont.

so until right midfield, no, until BOTH flanks are sorted, he will be of little more than 'nuiscance' value.

as a footnote to the left side, riise is obviously missed. but for however much kewell has lifted his game recently... he is time and again failing to clear the first man wherever a cross could be put in. poor really.

as for xabi's red     we cant even appeal!!!!

the only advantage we have over manure is the run-in to the end of the season:

Us:
Fulham (h)
Newcastle (a)
Everton (h)
West Brom (a)
Bolton (h)
Blackburn (a)
West Ham (a)
Aston Villa (h)
Portsmouth (a)

Utd:
West Brom (a)
Birmingham (h)
West Ham (h)
Bolton (a)
Arsenal (h)
Tottenham (a)
Middlesbrough (h)
Chelsea (a)
Charlton (h)

-> Utd still have to play chalsea, arsenal and spurs.... not saying our fixtures are easy (bolton blackburn and newcastle certainly wont be). but that is the only advantage i'm clinging onto at the mo....

Too many mistakes today IMO and not just stevie's one. Miscontrolling balls etc all happened today. I think one of the main reasons we lost today was the full backs and the wingers. The wingers often went inside and therefore it left the full backs crossing from deep and with that it is always easy to defend and is always the keepers ball. Crouch is not to blame for that, if he is not getting the right service he cannot score, IMO he is better on the floor than in the air. Of course, the chance in the first half he should have buried.

I was thinking before the game that if we were to have any chance in the game, we would have to score first. A point would have been a bonus today. Today we got what we deserved (nothing).

Again I thought Rafa brought fowler on too late. He should have been in from the off. Note, as soon as he came on he made a difference to our play and played a part in the goal.

On the sending off, alonso was having a poor game anyway and the sending off summed up his game really. He claims that he slipped, he might of because I saw alot of our players slipping over on that pitch, I will have to see it again.

Gerrard's mistake can happen to anyone, no doubt we all feel disappointed but I think we should look ahead to Wednesday against Fulham. Wednesday is a chance to build our confidence back up infront of goal against a sdie that hasnt won away all season. It's good that we have the game on wednesday because it is always good to have a game quickly after a poor performance like today. We need to get this out of our heads.

Well, we dont really have someone who can dribbles the ball...
Kewell perhaps on his day.

oh yeah... i forgot to mention..

u wanna have a high scoring team? get ur midfielders to hold the ball.. and run with it... whether to the wings.. or even towards the goal if possible.. idea is to draw the other defenders to you.. opening gaps.. and not allowing the defending team to regroup and have half their team behind the ball defending...

ARSEanal did just dat to us.. so does manutd and chelsea... if our players were more like owen... take the ball and run and create space.. we will definitely score more...

no point in have a great defence when we can't score goals... better to score many goals and have a lousy defence... its the goals that win a game... not the saves..

i aggree... on page 5 i was saying start with fowler/cisse. everyone hates cisse but moro is worse and teams have sussed crouch.... they know how to block him out of the game... making him ineffective for us... and so leaving us with no strikers!

I think a major issue in our recent slump is the loss of sissoko, his presence in the central midfield is immense and even tho hes not the best passer he is the engine room that allows us to be more powerful and solid.

YES!! as i said i think the loss of sissoko made us lose our freedom in the midfield, everytime sissoko plays, Alonso has more freedom to whip in great balls forward

we miss sissoko  :(

not only does he allow our more creative players like the gerrards and alonsos to express themselves but he also gives us a very powerful edge in the midfield aswell as making the team a overall more solid unit.

sissoko has been missed of course but if we want to challenge in the future we need to overcome such set backs. We all know the strikers our about as reliable as a peado in a nursery but there is not much rafa can do until the summer so to all the people saying wake up rafa and all this bullsh.it there is nothing he can do apart from on the training ground and that must be horrendous with the likes of cisse.

people have become overexpectant after the champions league win, thats to be expected because our clubs heritage demands success but for people to start moaning about rafa when things arnt so rosey is well a disgrace, hes still only in his second season and we have come on leaps and bounds and we are by no means the finsihed article yet. We are still in transition and the signs are there that with a few adjustments we will be a great side. Am sure most of us at the beginning of the season would have took 3rd in the prem and we are still on course for that and 2nd is not gone yet. we are still in the fa cup so its not so bad. Look where we were when rafa first took over and were we are now!

mate... we all know exactly how you feel. they are a disgrace in the double standards dept. its just life.

strange though when we actually do turn it on, how quiet he goes... :shifty

andy gray is a top drawer k.nob-head as a commentator, however 'clued' up he may be as a pundit. and let it be said, he knows his stuff.  but then take my advice..if you want to keep all your hair, or at least prevent it from going white overnight!!

let it in one ear and out the other.
