Again Stu misses the point. Anf for Gods sake, did I ever say Pennant was a bad player? He's a great player but there's too extra with him. He's abusing his Professionalsm, I for one don't want a player who drink's and drive's and even turn's up to training blocked out of his head! By the way, someone was shot at this 'party' Pennant was at...

Don't get me wrong, there's no denying that he could turn his social life around with the help of player's like Gerrard and Carragher to model off, but he'd be a big risk. Still, givin the choice I'd have Wright - Phillips any day.

And dawson99, height mean's nothing...ala Zola.

It's a common mis-conception that you need to have pace to succeed in English football. As Cisse has proved when he's played pace amounts for nothing if you haven't got a good footballing brain. You may say that a winger needs to have pace to be a threat down the flank, yes he does but he doesn't need to be as quick as speedy gonzalez, 'n' Joaquin is nowhere near as slow as you're making him out to be. He may not be as quick as Shaun Wright-Phillips but he makes up for it in other aspects of his game.

it makes no odds about SWP anyway as . A we can't afford him and B. cheski wouldn't sell him to one of there clostest rivials anyway.

any foreign players coming in will take a bedding in time.

spurs have got routlegde tucked up on a decent contract and pennat is a pi'ss artist(don hutchingson anyone) it will be a problem rafa will take alot of sorting to get right.

we need in the summer imo.. strikers.... RM and a left back but there is 40mill that we haven't got because houllier spent it all before he did one

I agree with redmikey!

We don't need a RM as uch as we need a Striker. Plus we have Gonzalez coming in summer!

PS. I know i am new to this forum, but why is it every time i read a post by Stu_the_red he is either disagreeing with EVERYTHING people are saying or slagging people off!??

If you have nothing decent to say, keep your mouth shut! It's so infuriating to read you aggressive posts if YOU don't agree with someone etc

Gonzalez is a left midfielder mate. That has just got me thinking though, Kewell love's playing on the right and dropping inside to hit curling shot's from outside the box, I'm near sure he played a lot of matches for Leeds there. Maybe Gonzalez will take up the left sided spot and Kewell will move to the right?

As for Stu, he's actually ok and talk's a lot of sense, but he just can't be open minded, so if his opinion isn't the same as yours then you are wrong.

Do you not watch football that much? Kewell would often make his way over to the right for Liverpool, but isn't actually played there as such. As I said, if my memory serves me right Kewell used to play in right midfield for Leeds.

That's a gamble you take with every purchase outside England. Joaquin doesn't strike me as type to struggle with the physical nature of the league. Altho I could be wrong but that's just it you have to take risks in football 'n' lets face it if Arjen "The Diver" Robben can hack it in the Premiership with his butterfly like movement then that gives hope to players like Joaquin (unless your Morientes).

I don't think we will sign SWP or Joaquin for the simple reason they would cost more than Rafa would be willing to pay and I doubt they would lower the price seeing how other clubs would be willing to pay over the odds.

I'd like to see Pennant here, altho many wouldn't becoz of his off the pitch record. All Pennant needs to a firm hand 'n' he will be fine. He's my favourite right winger at the moment.

There's also Wayne Routledge from Spurs who could be an option, altho that would be a last resort.

I wouldn't, He couldn't control himself at Arsenal or Brum, he sounds like nothing but trouble and Riise had him in his pocket earlier this season. Too much of a risk.

SWP over him any day, but only for about 10 mil.

Who is in your opinion the best RM in EPL? Look at the top teams, For Chelski, its Duff, ManU, (I don't know who...

), Us (SG/Garcia/Kromkamp), Arsenal (Pires, Lundgberg) (Sorry forgot they are not a top team anymore...), Spurs (don't know who), Blackburns (Emerton), bolton (Stelios)...notice the trend, there isn't really any typical RM that would light the world on fire in EPL. Overseas player doesn't always guarantee success but so does player from England. So, what it really comes down to is quality. TBH, I can't really think of any good RM but if we can get someone like Park Ji-Sung (I like him as a player but don't like the team), it would definitely be a very good signing.

I keep saying it but i think were going to get a cash injection in the summer as an deal looks to be close acording to my source. Im not told who but i have a feeling it is the Kraft family. And i think the board will let Rafa buy one or 2 pricey players. We only need 2 decent players to fill one spot up front and on the right as we will already be suring up the left with Gonzales as well as a nother CB in Paletta. SWP is still a possible target. Mourinho has already told his squad if there not happy they can go, and one of 2 things will happen.

SWP wont play much in the World Cup and ask for a transfer.

The new England manager wheoever he may be may make it a must that all his players play regular football, something which SWP does not at all this year. And should Chelsea decide to sell them i dont think think they will be too :censored:

I like SWP as player and believe he would be a cracking signing. I was impressed with his performance for England last night, particularly considering he has played so little this season and Uraguay had looked very solid at the the back prior to his (and our Crouchy's) introduction. But I have to agree with those who say there is no point talking about the lad. Chelsea paid well over the odds and simply wouldn't sell the lad even if Rafa offered 25mill+ for him. I'm a little baffled as to why Moureen won't play him and can only assume he has not been training well or that he was brought in as cover. £21mil for a squad player sounds crazy but this is Chelsea we're talking about.

As for Joaquin. He looks like an exciting player, small, quick, nimble with bags of tricks but i simply haven't seen enough of him to give a definitive opinion. My suspicion is that many (not all)of the people on here who champion his cause have seen the lad play about as many times as i have. I'd certainly be excited if we signed him but then i was excited when we signed Cisse (despite only see him play a handful of games)

Pennant is having a decent season at Brum, at least he has been on fire the last 8-10 games. If he can keep it up and Brum go down then he could well be answer. However, he would need to stay out of trouble till the end of the season and if that report is true then that might be a problem.

I wonder if the answer to our RM problems might be hiding in the championship?

Spurs stole Lennon from Leeds for peanuts and he looks like a cracking little player. Same goes for Routledge who is skillful with pace to burn but can't get a game at Tottenham because of Lennon's form. A few lads were talking up the youngster who plays on the right for Watford (i think) recently. I can't remember his name though.

I'm gonna get along to the Youth cup semi-final first leg down at St.Mary's in a couple of weeks so it will be good to get a watch at Paul Anderson who Rafa seems to believe has a big future in the game.
