Liverpool & merseyside environs - Need advise

Ladies & Gents, I am hoping you might be able to help me. My good lady wife and myself are hoping to do a house exchange in Liverpool and it's environs, but we need some advise on 'good' (family friendly, picturesque, 'leafy', safe, etc..) suburbs in which to consider possible exchanges.

I have only been to Liverpool once and that was a flying visit to Anfield (1.5 hours) on our return journey from Ireland in 1988. This did not allow me any time to 'survey' the city or it's suburbs so I am now calling on some assitance from fellow LFC supporters. I beg of you all to please don't put me in Everton territory as I intend on getting to a few games if I can.

Our trip is being planned for 2007-2008.

Many thanks to you all. I am happy to receive a PM if people would prefer to offer advise this way.      :)

Trust Judge & Laza to highjack the topic!!!  :suspect:

I'm not moving there on a permanent basis CGGY more a case of seeing how the other half live...   :;):  Seriously, I want to see a lot more of Britain and Europe before the Yanks invade it or some :censored: blows it all up. I want to stay 4-5 weeks in Liverpool, attend some matches at Anfield, etc. before buying a motorhome and setting off for Europe.

Is there room in your room CGGY??

Laza & Judge...you two clowns go and have your mass debates elsewhere. I'd like someone to offer a few reasonable suggestions. :;):  (in terms of where to stay in Liverpool and wherte NOT to stay...e.g., anywhere near Judge)!!!  :D

You'd probably be better off buying a motor home or vw van on the continent ,they'll be a lot cheaper .I also heard that Holland is a good place to pick up a secondhand vehicle ,lots of aussies and kiwi's trading their motors before returning home after a trip similar to yours .

:)

ps don't forget Europe is LEFT HAND DRIVE . I found it a real pain in the a'rse driving a right hand drive on their roads (overtaking can be a nightmare )

lionheart, just go anywhere apart from kirkby - roberts & dom live there

seriously...   hmmm let me see...

here's some nice parts:
woolton
west allerton
mossley hill
aigburth
west derby
childwall

or over the water on the wirral you've got places like west kirby, heswall, hoylake

there's plenty of other nice parts, some in north liverpool but i don't know it so well up there. all the above are leafy suburbia, if you wanna live nearer town try somewhere around sefton park (although pick your spot carefully) or there are of course countless new city centre apartments these days

hope this helps
