The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby Owzat » Sat Nov 22, 2003 8:50 pm

Another couple of points go begging and Liverpool fell farther behind Premiership leaders Arsenal. Now 15 points adrift any title aspirations that may have lingered have now gone. There is a nine point cushion between manu in third and Charlton in fourth - with much less resources, teams like Charlton are showing Liverpool up. Well at least www.bbc.co.uk are still phrasing it as though Boro held us rather than the other way round

Houllier has no apirations of winning the league this season,so I assume he will look on today's result as a point gained towards the march for 4th place.

Newcastle move above us and we're 13 adrift of third so it will be tough, even if we can overtake teams like Birmingham and Charlton above us. I just don't think we've got the confidence or spirit anymore. Don't get me wrong, under normal circumstances a draw at Boro is a decent result but allied with 2 draws and 5 defeats before that, it is more like two points dropped than one point gained. I know it's only a third of the way into the season but we haven't played Newcastle yet and have trips to Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford and Highbury to come having lost the home games. We could easily lose another five or more games, losing five already simply isn't good enough

Houdini is losing his grip on reality and he doesn't seem to understand the feelings of people who love the team. When I hear southern ars***les like Rodney Marsh slag our team off as no hopers with no chance it really makes me annoyed. Not because of what Marsh said(He's probably right!) but because it shows how much respect we have lost. We have slumped as a team so much that we invite that type of criticism.
No-one talked about Shank's teams like that or Bob's or even Kenny's.
If GH would just admit the fact that we are short of direction, skill, and ambition-we might start to get things right.
We are very close to being a good team but until GH loses his fascination with playing second rate European games on Thursdays and concentrates on grinding out results in the premiership we will have a mountain to climb.

Disrespect is about right and I can't see Houllier clawing it back without winning the Premiership. He has made so many stupid statements it beggars belief - the "five year plan", whinging about injuries and bad decisions, talking about Heskey "setting Anfield on fire" (which will only happen if Heskey takes up Arson   ) and a great many other statements which make me wince upon hearing/reading them. Houllier is not yet in a position to command respect as Wenger and Ferguson are, he may never do so, but his comments just add fuel to the fire

Found this in the archieves no diffrence to last season really only charlton where 4th at the time look at charlton now ???
So it doesnt look so bad we still got 4th last season.
Once Bolton, everton, and boro pick up injuries they will start droppin points, hopefully we got our injuries early and wont have any more the rest of the season pray to god.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.
