Charlton win - Their good run continues

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby JBG » Tue Dec 21, 2004 12:31 am

Charlton Athletic overcame Fulham 2-1 tonight to move up to 7th place, just behind us.

The Addicks have now put a decent run together after a slow start, and are the latest "mid table side" to put themselves in for a shout for a European cup spot.

Alan Curbishley's men scored through Jerome Thomas and Talal El Karkouri while Fulham substitute and former Evertonian Tomasz Radzinski pulled a goal back late on for The Cottagers.

Don't think they'll be there come May.

Charlton have had a couple of decent runs during the last couple of seasons, only to look like relegation candidates come March / April.

Yes, they were 4th this time last year.

The pattern I see of recent seasons is the likes of Fulham, Birmingham, Blackburn, Charlton, Bolton etc going through a good run and soon the media are all saying they can qualify for the CL.  :D

Charlton drew again today with Newcastle, which pretty much puts paid to any lingering hopes the Toon had for making a late run for 4th place.
