Liverpool were at the heart of frenzied speculation yesterday after several agents were told that there clients were no longer for sale. In August almost any player worth money was hawked around europe in an attempt to raise funds for rebuilding the current Liverpool squad. On Friday Liverpool cheif exec Rick Parry faxed all agents who represent senior squad players to inform them that unless the club expressed a direct desire to, no player was for sale until the close of this season in May. This is a complete u-turn for Liverpool as only until yesterday it was understood that the Reds would listen to offers on any but five current squad players. Sky Andrew quoted on Five-Live said "Liverpool's attitude in recent weeks makes me feel that they are coming into or have come into a large investment of somekind", "they (Liverpool) have enquired about many of our players & look to be doing alot of buisness in the coming weeks". SFX spokesman Jonathan Poeman who works for Steven Gerrard was also quoted as saying that "Liverpool will be looking to bring in four or five new faces in January & at least two of them will be big signings".

MY guess is that the source is News of the World. Next week, find out that all the World's leader are actually Lizards from Outer Space. Seriously though, i'd say that the rumour is a reaction of Parry talking to Robert Kraft in the States.
