He quality down the touchline and skill, leaves me breathless at times. I think he has avoided the attentions from many on here, but he is getting better with each match.

He has had his injury problems, but seems to slide straight back into it. It is a breath of fresh air. I am pleased with Finnans efforts for Liverpool and long may it continue.

For those doubters on here, i dont just criticise negatively, i am also positive !!

what are the thoughts of you lot ??

BLOODY HELL, A POSITIVE THREAD FROM THE JUDGE. :O

Judge, it took you last season and 20 some games of this season to figure out that Finnan is one of our most consistant players? ??? :D

speaking of defenders, it's good to see henchoz playing out of his skin at wigan at the moment. the guy was a legend for us alongside sami for years.

yes i know by the end the guy basically wanted to leave but if he was sill here we wouldn't be stuck with the likes of traore and whitbread for cover. :(

for frank M's benefit, this is what tidusuki123 posted:

About 2-3 weeks ago there was a post about Finnan actually doing anything. Everybody rushed in defending the fu**er but now you see what 'Weaver' and I were talking about.

That RB is NOT, REPEAT N.O.T, the second best in the premiership. In fact he is closer to being the 2nd shi**est RB in the premiership.

Yesterday his postioning was so bad, SO BAD. He had no strength to deal with Duff (who is not the strongest of wingers). I'm not saying the rest of the team or defenders played well but he particularly played SH*T. His marking was abosultely rubbish and almost everytime he got lost when Duff turned on the ball. He couldn't even deal with the long balls.

All those idiots that were bragging on about Finnan being so great let me see you defend him now. He's absolutely rubbish and if anyone thinks otherwise then maybe you need to watch the conference division. Liverpool need worldclass or at least premiership class players - and Finnan is neither. PLEASE FOR GODS SAKE JUST PLAY JOSEMI FOR NOW OR THAT NEW GUY BARRAGAN. ANYONE BUT FINNAN - PLAY RAFA HIMSELF. I DON'T CARE PLAY DUDEK IF THAT'S WHAT IT TAKES TO TELL FINNAN TO FU*K OFF.

as you can see, the above pasted rant has been posted by a complete tiduskinob.

my thread is more respectful in nature, single words...........very simple really

He does the job. That's about it. I can see him being replaced eventually though. Not any time soon like

If you look at all the right back in the league I don't think you will see many as consistent as Finnan. He does a fantastic job for Liverpool on that right flank. Anybody suggesting otherwise is off their trolley!!

He is unspectacular and look very average but when you look more closely, you will be able to see the quality. His crosses on both legs are top notch, in fact, I think he crosses better with his left. He got Good first touch and have deceiving speed, very good positioning and is very poise. YOu rarely see winger gone pass him. Very reliable and lucky we didn't sell him. Believe it or not, when people talks about good buy from the GH era, his name usually doesn't comes up and people will only think about Dudek, Hyypia, Henchoz etc. I think he should defo be included in this group.  :)

Agreed

There are not many in the Premiership better than Finnan. Look at the other clubs and compare....Ferriera, Neville etc are not any better (in my eyes) that Steve Finnan. I would rather have a solid reliable full back than a cavalier full back who can't defend.

Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against him. But I can see him being demoted to cover in the future. If we want to win the prem we need top-quality in all areas.

I just think he needs to improve his concentration. At the moment, I cannot even think of a right back that I would bother go out and getting as there are other areas that are more of a cause for concern i.e. RW, S.

You wouldn't find another right back who could do any better a job than Finnan!!
