Houllier blames the critics - "they have zapped our confidence"

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Woollyback » Wed Apr 07, 2004 12:04 am

I'm sure nobody who supports LFC would advocate a revolving door for managers at Anfield who can't deliver instant success, but GH has had 5 years and £120m (ish) to spend and has yet to deliver the league title

A modicum of success a couple of years back was great but GH can't take the club any further so it's time to say au revoir

I'll pre-empt anything Stu is about to reply with by saying  "Stu, f##k off".

Hi guys, you claim the right to an opinion and then try and shut up someone else whose opinion differs from yours..whats that all about ? ??? Ok GH has underperformed but lets face the facts that after a game every media hack and his cronies want a quote, so what if GH mentions that criticism has affected some of his players ( which is true ). I hope LFC afford the man a little more respect when they (IN my opinion) let him go in the summer than many do on here. I am NOT in the keep GH camp ( a small number I'm sure are) but i dont like to see GH run through the mill and attacked in an abusive way that he is on here (Again My opinion) you going to shoot me down now ? :D

I call it fierce debate and banter. Sometimes insults are traded. So what ? this is a footy forum not sunday school . Just because people have a go and wind each other up it doesn't have to be taken seriously (well, not all the time)  .As for slagging Foolier , even he would say " it goes with the job, mgr's are there to be shot at when they fail to live up to fans expectations.  :D

Its the fans who pay the wages, its the fans who keep the club running.
Players are on thousands of pounds a week, they no what happens if they dont perform.
It's our god given right to complain as football fans, and if houlier and is players carnt handle this then they are in the wrong job.

And we're going to hear some excuse from Stu, who thinks he has some supernatural power and knows exactly what Houllier is thinking.  Stu, the fans pay good money.  They reserve the right to express their feelings.  Most often than not, they don't have to analyze what Houllier is thinking to know what they like and don't like.  Simple as that you moron.

No f##ker in here pays more money than i (and my uncle) have done over the last 4 years yet we can both see now isn't the right time to sack the manager.

The point is the positions that need altering in the fans opinions are the same as the ones the manager thinks. He knows we need a pacey centre half, he knows we need a striker and he knows we need a midfield play maker. Houllier isn't stupid, at times naive and maybe even daft but he knows his football.

stu_the_red wrote:So what did he actually say that was so wrong again? I don't get it.

He states that we have recieved massive amounts of critisism this season, which is true and that it has affected the players confidence which is also true.

At no point does he blame this season on the press at all. You are putting your own spin on things. Look at the quotes not the garbage around it.

You don't get it is no surprise  :D How exactly have I "put a spin on it?" I have taken a direct quote from bbc and not changed it. Houllier has stated the "stick"......"has been affecting the players confidence".

"We have taken so much stick this season it has been affecting the players' confidence," said Houllier after Sunday's win against Blackburn.

So Houllier is saying the player's confidence has been reduced (safe assumption) by the critics and affected performance (another safe assumption) thus affecting results (another safe assumption. Why the ***** else do you think he would have said it?!!?!?!?!? He is blaming everyone except himself and most people would agree the majority of blame lies at the manager's feet (same of any club)

Maybe you'd care to give us your's (and Houllier's) spin on what he said...........

Who is more of a fool - the fool or the person who follows the fool?

btw, it's "we believe it isn't the right time to sack the manager" - it isn't a fact since there is no "right time" and it is also an opinion shared by two related people of questionable eyesight and/or intelligence

Sometimes i wonder if GH has gone senile.

1)He seem to think the whole world is againt LFC.
2)He believes referees and not bad results cost managers the job (this is after saying that english managers complain about referees too much a few months ago).
3)He rates Biscan.
4)A draw against Leicester is a good result.
5)Thinks MON is conspiring against him to get his job.
6)Says fans who travel to away matches are the real fans.

More can be added. But really it will not make any difference. I am not trying to target GH, but he has to understand that he is in charge of 1 of the biggest clubs in the world. Hope he does the right thing and walks off at the end of the season. Can't really take another season of sh##e

I fund it funny that Stu thinks Houllier knows his football as he is aware that the team is short of talent in certain positions. If GH knew his football, after 6 years(this summer) and £100m+ spent, we wouldn't be short.

Again Guys

Lay off Stu, his opinions are as valid as yours.

Our main aim here is to air our views and share our information and memories of our beloved LFC.

Its not a play ground.

Stu asks for it with his attitude towards other users NOT his opinion. Many discussions descend to stu's level, no surprise he got kicked off another site. Note Dalglish shares quite a lot of stu's opinions yet funnily enough he doesn't get as much "stick", if any

I suggest you "lay off" everyone else and quit preaching  :O
