No where near - 1-4

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

What makes life even more difficult is lack of quality in the forward line. With Baros departed we are left with Crouch, Cisse and Morientes. Crouch was never going to get a ton of goals because hes an assisting forward. The other two have been unconvincing and really cannot be relied upon. They just havent done enough. To my mind its of little matter whether we play one, two or indeed three of them up front. Fact is that they are all as likely as each other to be inafective as theyve been since they signed on for Liverpool.

For christ's sake, slap yourself in the face and start supporting Tranmere if you want a sad life that much

Well the title race is over for another season, the only thing we will be playing for is a CL place and I am getting  sick of just playing for a european place.

And before anyone mentions it........signing Micheal Owen would not have made any difference with the system we continue to play

I don't know why just because we're gutted with the result today we're being blamed & criticised. Is it wrong to voice out our concerns with the club that we love ??

This is not the Liverpool we know and you know it yourself John its just not good enough infact its f@ckin dreadful, the CL win in Istanbul means nothing after days like this, Im gutted.

Were you expecting us to win the league because we won the CL? The CL success was great but face the facts and admit that we had no real chance of winning the league this year.

I'm sorry but that's the truth, theres too many positions that need to be strengthened in our starting eleven for us to really challenge Chelsea. [Not even Arsenal can compete with them now, Man Utd have a small chance but even so Chelsea are ahead of them].

I'm gutted like the rest of you but be a bit reasonable. The league consists of 38 games not 13 like the Champions League, closing a 39 gap in one season over Chelsea was never ever going to be easy and if you thought that then you've been seriously mislead.

There is blind faith...and there is reality..and the reality is that we are still only a mediocre team which is still some way from a serious challenge for the title. today proved what i have suspected for a while, we should have strenthened the team with quality players after we won thw champs league, the likes of treore, garcia, hamman, and one or two others are not up to it. How can rafa persist with playing one striker up front at home, who cant score goals? why did it take 75mins before he decided to bring on cisse? its just not good enough, and we are now 17pts behind chelsea, i cant see us scoring 17 goals this season! never mind finishing in the top 4?. We will have to muddle on best we can and hope that once january comes messers moores/parry get their monies out and give rafa the dosh he needs to bring in some class players with proven ability otherwise it will be another "sob story season". sorry to be so depressing but reality has a way of slapping you in the face!.

Everyone whos heavily critzising us take a deep breath and think for a bit. 1 - 4 flatters chelsea and you'd have to be an idiot not to see that. In the first half we were the better side and silly mistakes cost us today. Conceeding just before half time was the biggest blow for me because in the second half chelsea were looking dangerous when we were pushing people forward to score. Would have been a totally different game had it been 1 -1 at half time.

The fact is A.B that no fan really expected us to win the the title but to bridge a gap a bit closer this season to Chelsea. Its really gonna be the same as last season if Benitez doesnt buck up his ideas soon and takes our CL mentality into the prem. Im still confident that he is the right man but he does have some baffling selection policies.

we have to raise our game by at least three levels every time we play chelsea.yet they seem to play well within themselves, everytime we try to match them they just move up a gear and we just can't get near them. we look poor and they look class!!!!!!!!!!! :( :( :(

And suddenly the season is over because we lost one game in the six we played with two games in hand?

I wouldnt go so far to say the season is over but if im perfectly honest id rather Chelsea had stuffed us in the CL then in the prem today. The Liverpool of now seems to take the CL more importantly than the Prem and thats what is hard to stomach. Im down but not out and i just want to see us play more attacking football in the league with the same attitude that they had in the cl.

Spot on Madred, sick of these rose tinted glasses, fact is rafa is an excellent european manager but Liverpool are a mediocre team in the prem, and its a bitter pill for some to swallow.

The two games in hand arn't exactly easy...Arsenal (home) Charlton(away) were are our goals going to come from? thats whats worrying me! As far as i am concerned the jury is still out on crouch, garcia cant "hack the prem" cisse has had his confidence shot to fukk, and morientes is past his sell by date!  I hope rafa has some decent players lined up for january? cos' we sure need them. :(
