Promising start for Barragan and the rest of the youngsters, scored yet another goal.

From .tv

BARRAGAN SINKS WOLVES

Spanish starlet Antonio Barragan scored the winner for the second game running as Liverpool Reserves beat Wolves 1-0 at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground.
Barragan netted the only goal of the game in the 1-0 win at West Bromwich Albion in the Reds last game and he did the same again against the Baggies black country rivals Wolves.

Barragan played right side midfield and had a great game. He even ended the match as captain when David Raven limped off the field for the final 20 minutes.

His goal came after 33 minutes from a move he started himself in his own half. Darren Potter, back from injury, produced a fantastic through ball and Barragan finished superbly past experienced goalkeeper Stefan Postma.

Potter made a successful comeback from injury and played for an hour. Paco Herrera and Hughie McAuley fielded a young side with Miki Roque and Danny O'Donnell again impressive as a centre back pairing. Zak Whitbread played left back.

The midfield saw David Mannix and Lee Peltier in the centre with Barragan on the right and Potter on the left. Welsh Under-21 international Ramon Calliste played up front supported by Austrian youngster Besian Idrizaj who was making his first start for the reserves.

Liverpool deserved the victory and Calliste was unlucky not to score on the night. He is a pacy and confident striker and works hard.

Calliste shot over the bar after a good run from the halfway line and early in the second half came even closer when Postma denied him with a superb save.

Wolves came close themselves after 53 minutes but Northern Ireland youth international keeper Paul Willis made a great save to keep out an effort from Tom Stewart.Barragan continued to provide Liverpool with good width down the right side in the second half and certainly likes to take on defenders. He set up two more chances before the end of the match for Calliste who was again denied by Postma and the keeper also saved from Idrizaj's flick header.

It was a good night for Liverpool and there were many positives to take from the performance. Godwin Antwi came on for the final 25 minutes at right back and did really well looking composed and made some excellent tackles. The 17-year-old from Ghana is a strong boy and has showed his versatility this season for the reserves. His position is centre half but because of the competition for places in that department in the reserves squad he has played centre forward and right back.

Liverpool Reserves: Willis, Raven (Antwi 70), Whitbread, Roque, O'Donnell, Peltier, Barragan, Mannix, Calliste, Idrizaj (Hobbs 73), Potter (Guthrie 60).

Wolves Reserves: Postma, Little, Jones, Flynn, Riley, Craddock, Gobern, Davies, Ganea, O'Connor, Stewart.

Referee: A Taylor.

Liverpoolfc.tv Man of the Match: Antonio Barragan. Another promising performance from the youngster and another goal. Miki Roque and Danny O'Donnell also had very good games at centre half.

Great news - this is what the doom and gloom merchants need to read. Not only are we holding our own while rotaing the squad to compete in a staggering amount of matches this season but we have a lot of promising young talent coming up.

I for one can't wait to see some of these young guys blooded into the 1st team.

Could we have someone who'll make an impact like Owen, Rooney, Fabregas, Ronaldo or Milner (to name a few) somewhere in this lot? They all made breaks into first team contention while still in nappies (no disrespect intended).

Good news but to be honest im not at all surprised. One of the first things Rafa did at Valencia was sign a load of promising youngsters. I think we will definatley see Barragan in the first team at some point this season. I would also expect to see Roque, Antwi, Ramon Castille, Idrizaj and Pottor a lot more now in the Carling cup this season.

to be honest ive never taken much notice of the resrves but i wouldnt mind getting down there and watching a few games a couple of these young lads sound very exciting, for a 17 year old right back to come from Spain score 2 winners in 2 games in a right wing position then be made captain shows Barragan must have huge potential, Miki Roque and O'donnell sound good and the 2 lads upfront are meant to be decent as well Calliste and Idrizaj.....The future does look bright

Barragan may get a chance in the first team sometime this season I reckon, our right wing problem is well documented.

17yrs old and 2 winners in 2 games for the reserves, can't complain about that.  Looking forward to seeing him in action.

Rafa did well to get this boy when he did, because Real and Barce were both sniffing around him.

Just watched the reserve highlights and Barragan looked superb at right wing and Calliste didnt look to bad either, but if you have the E season ticket on LFC.Tv then i recommend you take a look cos it looked like quite a display young Antonio Barragan put on last night

Barragan sounds like an excellent young player and with the guidance of Rafa should become a great first team player. I hope he does play a few first team matches this season. Rafa seems to have a talent in finding excellent young footballers, you just have to look what he did at Valencia. The future is definitely looking bright for LFC.

Why do people always seem to include Ronaldo, when they are mentioning young talent that came through the ranks or whatever?? Ronaldo cost Man Utd  7 Millions Pounds or something like that.  :D

Anyway, it's nice to have some youngsters that we can get excited about at Liverpool. Didn't really rate alot of the kids when I did see them play, what little of to be fair.
