Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

If you or I wanted to live in America, and get a job, our prospective employer would have to prove that no American could do the job.  That's the basic idea behind the work permit problem we've got.  I think it's generally a good thing to help protect young British talent, but it's not just a football rule of course.

Hurrah

Being from Chile it might not be a good idea to let him come over in January before he's all signed up

Its fooking freezing up North at that time of year

Nice to see a player remaining true to his word

I know you are just trying to explain the reasoning behind work permits, but if thats the case that is absolute b@llocks.
I think the reason the permit was refused is because the deal was a loan, so the panel might of thought he wouldnt play much.
To say that a player will not be good enough because of a blag FIFA ranking system is an absolute joke...so would that mean Salas is not good enough ?

if Rafa thinks he's so good- why were we just bringing him in on loan- is it because he was injured, or do you think they want him to stay registered in Spain so he can get his Spanish passport?

Maybe he is taking him on loan to see how he adapts to the EPL cos he may be mint in La Liga but might not cut it in England.

Well, the Brazil v Chile game is tonight, the game that could move Chile up the FIFA rankings if they get a result, which could enable us to get Gonzalez in January.

As far as I know Gonzalez is still injured and isn't playing tonight anyway, but the game is live on Bravo at 7.30pm if anyone is interested :)

A friend told me the other day he was actually born in South Africa,if this is true wouldnt he be able to have a south African passport as well as a Chile one.For example my mrs was born in Germany but moved to England  when she was 3 months old,she has a British and a German birth certificate and if she wanted to could have a German passport. The point i,m making is if indeed he was born there, then there would be no reason why he couldnt sign.
