New centre half.....rio ferdinand? - Rafa's looking for one.

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

In fairness it's never ever going to happen. That said, to pretend that Ferdinand wouldn't be a welcome addition to our squad is allowing our anti-Manure bias to cloud our judgement. I don't particularly like the guys snoop-doggesque demeanour (though without the humour) anymore than the next man. Also I think his contract demands in the light iof the support the club gave him are disgraceful. He is however, one of the best central defenders in the World today so therefore in different circumstances (he hadn't played for Manure, wasn't a money grabbing ponce and a fully paid-up member of the So Solid massive) would be a top aquisition for us.

Suffice to say Red, in purely footballing terms to say to say you don't rate him at all is wide of the mark IMHO. Guess that's what its all about though.

Too much of a fancy dan for me.  I lik defenders who are strong in the tackle and like to aim for row Z when they have to.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

i dont think any manchester utd player has made an instant switch to liverpool or vice versa.
i cant think of any players that have at the moment anyway!

Not an instant switch, but who is it that played for ManUre, City, Liverpool & Everton in recent times..?

This must be the saddest day of my life, because I'm quoting myself.  I really never thought I would, however, I feel a compulsion to answer my question from earlier in this thread.  The player who, in recent year, played for Liverpool, Everton, ManUre and City is...

Peter Beardsley.

Now, having got that off my chest, I throw myself on your mercy, not to ridicule me too much.

We tried to get Ferdinand in 1999 but we were priced out of it by West ham United.  Leeds went and paid £18 million for him.

We signed Henchoz and Hyypia for a combined £6.1 million if I'm not mistaken.

I've got no complaints about that particular bit of business.
