Hamann of distinction unsung hero

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Right no one ever makes a topic about the Kaiser what a friggen fantastic player, Didi has been my favourite player for years now, but he's up there with carra in my book.
Totally cover's the back four, how well did he do against leverkussen in the first leg when Stevie and xabi were injured?
Him and igor ran the show that night, and to top it off free kick outside the box to score gettin 3-1

Out of all our buys he's probably the best player we have bought in the last 5-6 years, no fuss just does the job, a few shady tackles now and again like, but we can forgive him for that.
Gerrard got MOTM in Istanbul but make no mistake about it there was a man there that should have got it but didnt cause he didnt score, Stevie could only run riot when Hamann was on the pitch, Didi out-Alonsoed Alonso, everytime Milan poured forward he spotted the danger, and brought the man down with the ball giving the defence time to get in position.
Rafa knows he made a mistake playing Kewell instead of Didi, but our original plan was to go all out an attack and it didnt work.
i think our lads where overawed by the occation TBH, but looking back it would'nt have been so exciting and enthrawiling maybe if Didi played and milan played defensive they would have won 1-0 you never know, but that night was planned out, to be the way it was.

What about when he ran from the midfield and tried to score in the dyin minutes in extra time but it was just to much for him, would have been amazing Didi scored the winner.

He was amazing that night in Istanbul, bags of experience and class, he was the creative force behind our 3 goals, it aloud carra to get forward to pass to Baros for him to pass to Stevie and then the pen, f@ckin unbelieveable.

He put schevo in the shackles stopped him and kaka alrite he made it simple, but effective slowly turning the wheels in the midfield allowing us to go on the attack with complete utter trust he would be there, if Milan started an attack.

And then as cool as you like he steps forward to take the first pen :;): little run then a bit of a walk then gettttttttttttttin 1-0   :buttrock  cool little raise of his arm to the crowd (BTW he had a broken bone in his foot) :D

Then that galloping run like a total puff running to dudek but its ok it would'nt have mattered if he said after that Im in luv with Lilly savage, I was so friggen happy kissed the face off him on the screen :D

I am so glad he's staying and not going to fat Sams joint, ffs there are ex players that dont bother me joining other clubs, but i would have gone off my head if he went to them bullying b@stards.

He loves playing for Liverpool and we love having him here, I luv ya Didi YNWA the Kaiser that smokes 20 a day :buttrock

Ive got a 12 minute video of the boys after the final whistle and there all havin turns with the trophy and when Hamann goes up to them he gets an unbelieveable reception better than probably anyone else, he is loved no doubt, i dont know a fan who doesnt love him, his role is so important how glad must rafa have been to have someone like that who he could look to when the sh!t hit the fan but he will forever be remembered by me and im sure by most hes comin to the end of his career and a successful one at that hes won every trophy bar one (which i am begging we hope we can get are hands on this year) and hes played in a World Cup final......Jesus i love a German, how the times have changed, then again hes a converted scouser by now!

Couldnt agree more about Hamann. Whilst chaos is all around him he just sits and plays his game. Knows what he can and cant do. I read a piece in the racing post day after the second leg against Chelsea, not sure if its been mentioned here. Anyways, Hamann came off the field, subbed I recall, and was immediately pounced upon for an interview in typical beach ball german tv style. As he was catching his breath and talking about the game he was guzzling a pint of lager in the tradition of the Sunday league footballer, quality  :bowdown

The thing is also he was sat on that bench through the first half, he must have been f@ckin fumming that Kewell was playing instead of him  .
And with his experience in the changing room at half time he must have realised ffs look at them they are distrought, listen to them fans out there singing You'll Never Walk Alone, once rafa heard finnan could'nt play any further he was injured, Djimi was on his way to the showers he got called back, Rafa had to go with 3 at the back, then Djimi dropped a bombshell the Milan players had CL winners T-Shirts on at half time.
Now imagine Didi hearin this, this was going to be his last game for Liverpool, Oh they think they have won it do they, well f@ck Milan we are gonna win, stick yer T-shirts up yer @rse.
I want to leave Liverpool with a CL medal, So he comes on the pitch he does what hes best at and he gets his medal :;):
True class pro he is great i luv him to bits, Didi hamann the German Kaiser who smaokes 20 a day and loves a pint :buttrock

Can only agree with everyone, Hamman is close to legend status for me. He plays the holding midfield role as well as any player in Europe if you ask me. Gerrard is always at his best when he is paired with Didi in midfield, he frees other players to do their own thing while he just holds the fort. He is a great passer, has an awesome shot on him and has as good an attitude as any player in the squad. Love him and very very very chuffed he has resigned for at least one more year

Hamann has been absolutely immense in the champions league for us. A grate man to have for the big games. his tackling against chelski at anfield was superb and is up there with the best holding midfielders in europe such as makelele and gattuso
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,
Steve Gerrard Gerrard.

If you look back at the past 5 years there is no doubt in my mind that Dietmar Hamann has been our best player. His contribution to the TEAM is fabulous. He carries out his work on the pitch like there was no tomorrow, and he never let us down off the pitch either. He is a model professional and a true hero. I f@cking love it that he signed an extension, his heart is red through and through.
If football is banned in heaven. I'd rather go to hell.

Typically, defensive MFs hardly get credit as they deserve. But heck,I'm real happy Hamann's getting his long-delayed recognition. One of my fave players in the team.

yes, have to agree. Hamann will again be an important player in the champions league for us next season. He is one of the best anchor man in the world (when the game is played at a slower pace).

He would also be handy if we play wih 3 central midfielders in the league.
