Chrissy, no offence dude, I feel for you, I really do, I have websites myself.

It's just that the market you are trying to penetrate as far as I can see is dominated by the big boys already.

Look at the top searches for Liverpool Football Club Discussion Forums in Googles top ten

Note that RAWK isn't even in there, and the official site is 5th.  Guess who's top?   :D

You're doing the right thing, get on as many other forums but preferably newsgroups as you can, post a link to your site in your signature and the search engine spiders will lap them up.  Reciprocal links go a long way in Search Engine priorities.

Build your site up a little bit, if any of your mates have forums, get them to link to yours, and vice versa,

You have to have a gimmick, a reason to make people join your forum.  Offer them something.  Don't get me wrong, when I publish my website, I'm not having a forum for exactly the reasons listed above, I'm not even going to attempt to muscle into the Google top ten.  But I do have gimmicks which I'm not giving away here.  You'll have to wait and see.

Sorry I wont be joining, I'm a member of four other LFC forums, but good luck anyway.

Hi Jonny,

Which is the best and why? Can you think of improvements we can make here?

Secondly:Change Your Template (Why Middle Is Empty With No Ad Or Anything)...(Maybe U Can Change The Pic To Liverpool Logo)...
Thirdly:Nothing...

Chris

I know it might seem a big job to do, but on some other forums, there is a "Show all this users posts" option.

I look over the archives a lot in this site and it would help a great deal when looking for certain topics or users.

Just an idea.

Also, I tried to start a thread on this but it got loist in the mists.

How about a whole new forum, specially for photos from the game, either taken from your mobile phone or camera for those who have them, probably just a simple FTP plug-in.  Might work, might not.

OK I've added a hack to allow you to find all of the topic's a member has posted in:

If you view any members profile under the link

'Click here to add xxxxx to your contact book'

you will see a new link which says

'Show all posts by xxxxx'

Is this what you wanted?

Hi Jonny,

I am a member on hee and RAWk, RAWK is probaly the best, but IMO their are far too many members on there, so their are copious amounts of new posts every day.

The size of this forum is perfect, and you get to know a lot of the other posters well for that reason.

However RAWK has excellent features like ticket exchanges, and regualr columnists like paul Tomkins who write excellent pieces.

I don't think this site will ever be able to be like RAWK, as RAwk is more of a liverpool webiste than just a forum, but tbh I post on new kit a lot more.

Interesting, I'm glad you post here more, it seems like it could be difficult to get the balance right between the number of members and good quality content.

For us to expand this site beyond the discussion forum is difficult as we need to be able to publish regular good quality editorial content, don't know if you know but a while ago we added a News & Articles section into the general section of the top navigation where certain members could publish News & Articles unfortunately this takes a far bit of effort and commitment and for a while now it has been dormant.

JBG has recently established a new News & Articles new where members can have their articles published for the whole world to read, we would like to expand this in the future so if any of you feel there is a journalist in you and want to publish regular good quality content then please let us know!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to any new features you would like to see in this site?

i love this forum just the way it is and its the only one i use. as scott said, the size is perfect and allows a familiarity amongst many posters. makes it seem like a kind of club (not a clique) a lot of the time. in this respect the only improvement i could suggest is we make more use of the live chat facility - but i suppose thats up to us not the mods...

Agree, RAWK's good but simply too many members = too many topics = too many posts = headache

I love the "community spirit" on here and for that reason I rarely post elsewhere

PS what's the difference between "live chat" and the normal forum? Me no comprende
