Is alonso the best passer in world football

Alonso is quiet yet very effective. His passing skill is really something I haven't seen in a long long time. The fact that I got his name on the back of my Jersey says it all. :)

YESSS !!I do agree.Xabi is definitely ONE of the greatest midfielder around the world. He's truly brilliant against Juv n Spurs considering he has played only 2 matches ever since he came back from injuries.

TRULY BRILLIANT !! n Gerrard can leaves if he wants to coz he can see tat Xabi is a million better passer than him.

.. Xabi is great and I hope the boss can secure him on a long term deal.. so he does not become the subject to the constant speculation like that surrounding Gerrard..

Wide and skyed.

it's the way he approach the kick and the way he strike it...showed a lack of concentration for such an important execution.

I might be a bit cynical and unfair but my first thought after he skied the ball was "is he trying to fail on purpose so that he can have a valid reason to f*ck-off at the end of season?" Looking at his failure to perform in important matches, and the fact that we did better without him in the team, am I out of my mind to even think of this?

yes santa you are completly wrong no way would he do that,i personally think his mind is just not right cos of everything thats going on maybe he shouldn't be playing at all if he can't give 110% as he normally does,or maybe hes just so used to carrying the team that he doesn't realise that its not needed any more as we now have some players who can take on the responsability and he should do what he does best.

Xabi Alonso is the best passer in the world just if we had someone on the wing who's fast like cisse to latch onto it, but cisse is an upfronter maybe someone like duff, snjider there and that will get us more goals.Boa Morte even

I certainly hoped so. (...but to goof a penalty kick the way he does??) He is afterall a well paid professional sports man (but try tell that to Kewell) so maybe he need to feel he is needed to carry the team huh? He seems to perform better when the weight is on his shoulder??

means f@ck all them percentage stats. i remember a game when redknapp and barnes had 90 odd percent passing ratio`s and so many hundred passes completed and we didnt create a f@cking thing all game, just kept the ball for the sake of it.
i moaned in those days that we were not direct enough, then we got houllier. never was the old chesnut be careful what you wish for more apt. i paid for that wish all right.

I'm not referring to short run of the mill passes,I mean the pass covering 30-40 yards.Steven Gerrard thinks he can hit the perfect long ball everytime but more often than not fails to deliver, whereas Alonso more often than not hits the spot.

Alonso was solid with his passing and clever with his choice of passes. But far too often he and SG weredoing the same thing which is spraying long balls and unfortunately no one was that fast to take advantage of that :(

The lads class. That pass to Nunez must have been about 70 yards. Fricking amazing.

Xabi is very good at passing and he's only 23. Now, he only needs good players at the receiving end of his passes as what we have right now is nowhere near good enough as they lose possession far too easily.

As to saying that he is one of the greatest passers, he still needs to improve and if my memory serves me well, I'd say that Michel Platini is the best because of not only his ability to pass accurately, is his vision to fashion openings which prompted his attempts to pass prior to making the pass. If Platini had Zidane's on the ball skills, he'd be the prefect creative midfielder.

i was lucky to watch the game live, alonsos' range of passing was outstanding, gordon mcqueen was the co commentator and he was drooling over the standard. its just a shame that gerrard tried to pass his penalty 70 yards into the back of the kop

We have got a good passer and now we need strikers who can put the ball into the net!! I think we'll see a good football in the team next year....

Is he the best passer in World football? I don't watch enough "world football" to make a guess but he is the best passer in the Prem' by a distance. Fantastic footballer.
