Fair enough.

I think one of the major decsions is the right side of midfiled.

We have the option of Garcia, Nunez or Smicer.

Personally I would play Nunez and leave Smicer and Garcia on the bench.

Well if that's the case, after Warnocks 'lost sheep' impersonation playing left back away to Southampton and Olympiakos, I'd say we just cut our losses and stick Riise back there. He's played there more than enough times, and can do the job.

I think that is a bit harsh.

Warnock is a good defensive player, commited, positional awareness, and doesnt overcomplicate passing.

As an offensive player he doesnt offer much that is true, but we are not in a position we have to bombard the oppistion team, and Riise will help him out.

I think he'll play 4-5-1 like this,

                      Goalkeeper-Dudek.
                      Right back-Finnan.
                      Centre backs-Hyppia, Carra.
                      Left back-Riise.

                      Left mid-Warnock.
                      Central mids-Gerrard, Biscan, Hamann.
                      Right mid-Garcia.

                      Up top-Baros.

Very likely:
-------------Dudek

Finnan-Carra-Hyypia-Warnock

Garcia-Gerrard-Hamann-Biscan-Riise

-------------Baros

I would rather:
-------------Dudek

Finnan-Carra-Hyypia-Warnock

Nunez-Hamann-Biscan-Riise

-------Gerrard
---------------Baros

I would not put Warnock at left midfield and Riise at left back, and I can't see Rafa doing this either.

I just think that given Warnocks inexperience, his tendancy to fly into tackles and to wander a little, he can almost do less damage at left-mid than he can at full-back. That's what I think Rafa will do as well but you may be right mate, we'll soon know.

According to me his positional awareness is quite poor.

My Team:

              Dudek
Finnan Carra Hyypia Riise
Nunez Biscan Hamann Garcia
              Gerrard
               Baros

that should do it, I don't want Warnock playing.

thats probably the side i`d go with, its an attacking line up but i think we might have to score a goal to kill the tie.
apparently they`ve turned a few decent sides over at home with decent margins in terms of goalscoring so we might need to get one.
my only worry is that gerrard can look lost in that forward role without alonso to find him. i seem to remember the last time he played there without xavi was the goodison derby and to be honest he looked lost.

Well I think we should play Jamie Carragher as striker, i mean he hasnt scored in 6 years, which means he's bound punch a few holes through the back of the net  :D

Hey Dappy, why are you in as an unregistered guest? Surely not getting shy after the triumph of your amusing post last night, (don't know if you all saw it, it was on the Cheyrou, Diouf, Diao thread. It was actually funny, incredible.) Not bad for post number 451 or whatever it was.
