I would set the team out like this:

Dudek

Finnan Carragher Hyypia Warnock

Nunez Hamann Biscan Riise

Gerrard

Baros

Bench

Le Tallec
Smicer
Garcia
Welsh
Potter
Raven
Carson

It is the same way we played against Arsenal. I Know it wont be as effective without the passing abiity of Alonso but I still think it would be the most effective.

I think we would see the best of Gerrard in that position. Leverkusen will have to push up and Gerrard will be able to run at a seriously depleted central defence.

The reason I would leave Garcia out is because of his poor defence play and giving the ball away easily when we havent got cover at the back.

Also I think that Warnock is very good defender, but not much of an attacking player, so I woulden't hesate to put him in at left back.

I think we will go 4-5-1 though with midfield being (left to right) riise, hamman, gerrard, biscan, garcia/nunez with gerrard to push forward to support baros. whilst its true it isn't possibly the best formation we have, it allows gerrards natural athleticism to get him forward and back and not worry too much about what's behind him. biscan looks a decent player in europe (hopefully not famous last words) and i wouldn't mind if they let hamman take a few free kicks.

traore and kewell being injured doesnt help matters at all.

Ok, its stupid, putting biscan there, but i just think we need to be lpaying a team that can defend and atatck. As much as i like warnock i think that with the right wingers they have we need someone strong back there.

HAS, ehs played there before, and we dont have many otehr choices. id rather put him there than have warnock left back sorry. we can always play risse left back but then the midfield will be walked all over by zee germans. its just my opinion, not saying tis right at all, but one of many things that can be done.

people seem to be forgetting that leverkusen have five first teamers missing aswell. we are fully capable of getting a result as long as we don't concede an early goal.

I know he has played there before.

But do you remember what happened last time he played at centre back in europer(Marsille).

Anyway, I just dont like the idea of a player having such a drastic change of postion, espically in a match of this importance.
