Should garcia start tomorrow? - Just a thought

Is tomorrows game time to bench Luis Garcia? The indications are that Rafa won't and will give him the same number of chances that Harry Kewell has had to produce consistent performances. Personally, with Riise's form being good on the left side of midfield and with Nunez more likely to provide shape and width and make an impact now we have Morientes, I'd drop Garcia to the bench. He'd be a perfect player to bring on if Plan A doesn't work as he's so unpredictable.

I'd also consider using him just behind Morientes if Baros' fitness is still in doubt. However, to me, Baros looked fit, strong and raring to go against Watford when he came on so I presume he'd start. It's going to be a very physical game and Garcia's obvious dislike for the physical side of the game, along with his constant giving away of the ball worries me.

Make no doubts about it, this will be the hardest game of the season so far. Despise manure or not, they are used to responding in big games. They did it at Chelsea on Wednesday and they also did it against Arsenal early in the season.

Would you start Garcia or not? ???

I think Garcia will start and Morientes to come in as 2nd half sub, probably because his fitness is not in top notch at the moment and also allow him to observe the pace of the game before he is thrown in. But I will like to see FSP be given more opportunities to shine.

Personally no I wouldn't, not for any major reason against Garcia, just because Nunez is starting to look the part, and if he can deliver the crosses....well we have all seen what Morientes can do with his head.

But if Morientes doesn't start i'd go with Garcia.

quite apt that post mike.

i think Garcia should be left on the bench personally. regardless of his ability, his form is off. plain and simply, you dont play off form players. thast the point of a squad, the best eleven in form play (as long as they're not sh*te).
its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.

i think the main point is that i would only start garcia if he is playing as the drop off striker. i don't see the benefits of playing him on the right because he's not disciplined enough to play there.

as for morientes not being fully match fit, the way to get match fit is to play so i'd start him alongside baros.

yes, but i assume, like you suggest, that Morientes will start with Baros (i bloody hope so anyway).

like you say, Garcia ahould be frimly wedged in the "Plan B" folder. Morientes may not last the 90 mins, but i think replacing him with Pongolle would be a good choice to be honest. he's well better coming off the bench. gives defenders loads to worry about with his effervescence, when the game has settled.

I do not know which games you have been watching St Michael, but it appears to me that Garcia is Rafa's blue eye, and he will play him regardless of form.

IMHO you could not be further from the mark.

Normally i would say we should start garcia. but, united tend to play rough at the start in big games like this and garcia is very lightweight and this would not suit him. also we would probly have to put him playing on the right so hed be markin giggs and as we all know his defence is embarressing so no. i'd play nunez cos hes got a bit strength and bring on both sinama and luigi in the 2nd half!.

the most recent example i can think of was reyes at old trafford when manure, in particular gary neville, just booted him off the pitch. also, with regards to gabriel heinze, i've never seen anyone use his arms so much when defending against attackers.

Garcia needs to gain his confidence back, get physicaly stronger and fight for the ball more. Apart from that he's a quality player but he has his flaws which can be worked on.
